Subject: Showing signs of RA
Hi I have had alot of pain in my arms, hands, fingers, wrists and knee. Had bloods done imflammatory markers were slightly raised, but now are fine. Went to GP and he said I am showing signs., however bloods are not. He touched my hands and fingers, and I hit the roof. They are so painful, takes ages to type this. I am at gp again for bloods repeated, and hospital for x-rays. Can some one tell me how they cope with this sort of pain.

Hi Jan, Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear you are suffering with pain. Sometimes RA doesn't show up in blood tests - mine doesn't for example, but inflammatory markers are raised. Mine weren't that high but the pain was terrible. Your Gp should refer you to a rheumatologist ASAP. I don't find painkillers much help but did take anti inflammatory drugs for a bit and they helped. Your GP should help with this. But please do ask for a referral to a rheumatologist even if your bloods are negative. take care

Hi Jan like bsk said try to get refered to a rheumatologist ASAP , they are very good at finding where your joint problems are , most people with RA have rheumatiod factor in there blood (about 80%)the ones that are seronegative will take a bit longer to get a diagnosis for rheumatoid arthritis ask your GP for a good anti inflammatory drugs & should help + ask to get refered , hope you fell better soon

Thank you both for the replies, I am taken Naproxen for now, just waiting on x-rays and bloods.
