Subject: Golimumab

Hi all,
Hope everyone is ok at the moment.
Just wanted to let you all know how I have been getting on with my new bio logic drug.
When I had the first injection I felt definately at bit better, then with my 2nd injection could not believe how well I felt for the first 2 or so week,s then after that I felt the effect's wearing off.
So am due my third injection this week and to be honest feel as though I could really do with it as my bad headache's are back (have had 2 this week so far) and feel myself slowing down with more pain and stiffness although have still been taking it easy as my rhumy nurse told me to she say's that Regardless I still have arthritis and not to overdo thing's. I am still taking 25mg of mtx as well.

So far have not had any side effect's no cold sore's nothing which is good news. My family all came down with a bug a few week's ago I had it too but not as bad as some in my family and other people I knew which is surprising considering that I am on a bio logic.

So have to keep trying this drug until after Christmas and if it only work's for 2/3 week's of the month my rhumy will take me off it and try something else but here's hoping.

It is amazing when you are in so much pain all the time when you have a completely pain free period you do not realise just how much pain and fatigue you suffer everyday it goes to show what you can get used to living with.

My son is starting bio logic in dec so that is 2 member's of our family on it but at least we can help and understand each other.
He is starting Humira so hope it will help him a bit.
Sorry for the long post and hope everyone on here is well Deborah.

Hi Deborah,

Good to hear from you. That's good that the Golimumab seems to be working for you, sometimes it can take a wee while to get the full benefit and that was excellent that it started to work so fast. I have an appointment next week with the hospital and when i was last there i didn't think the rituximab was working and they were going to give be a different biologic but i do feel a good bit better now, that was 4 months it took before it started to work, so i may stick with this, i will see what they say. I have been feeling so tired though, i am spending about 12 hours in bed and i am still tired when i get up.

I hope you son gets on well with the Humira.

Take care
Rhona xx

Isn't it great when something even only help's a bit.

I know these drug's can take a while to work and can have some bad side-effects but if they help a bit it is worth it.

Good luck hope it keep's helping you.

The weather is dreadful at the moment have you had any flooding?

Hope my son can get some relief with Humira.

Are you sorted for Christmas? Or are you like me still have load's to do arg..but must admit I do love christmas it's the only time you can really sit down and spend time with the family.

Take care Rhona x Deborah.

Hi Deborah,

We haven't had any flooding here thank goodness, although we have had a lot of rain. It has turned really cold though and quite frosty now in the mornings.

I am not organised in the least for xmas, i have a few pressies in but must try and get organised as its now just 4 weeks away, doesn't time fly.

Going to bed soon as have to be up early for nurse in morning.

Take care xx
