Hi! Lynn, good luck with your various test results. I do hope your infection has finally gone. How are your joints feeling?

Christmas Fair sounds nice, did you buy anything? I did a bit of gardening this afternoon, nice to get outside. Making a Christmas cake this evening. A bit later but better than never! Smells good.
Very hard to stir in the fruit though, painful on my wrists.

You ok Rhona?

take care.

Not sure about the cake Marlene, there seemed an awful lot of melted butter seeping out of the tin. I think large amounts of brandy fed into it might sort out any problems lol!

Hi Girls,

Nice to hear from you Lynn, I've had to get wisdom teeth out in the past and surprisingly it wasn't too bad, my dentist took them out though. Have you to go to the hospital to get yours out?

Sorry to hear that your hands are still sore Marlene. Do you use a rub or anything to help them? My fingers are still quite bad, i have a few i can't bend at all.

I bet the cake will taste good bsk, It is nice to make your own, my mother used to make dumplings and i loved the smell of all the spices.

I'm really quite sore today bsk, i am starting to get really stiff again and my hands are very sore especially changing gears in the car, i think i should get an automatic although i have never driven one before. I have been getting B12 injections for about 12 years now, the very first time i went to the rheumatologist she told me i was very short of it and i got one there and then and have continued to get them every 3 months. I have never really been given a straight answer as to why i get them When i asked the nurse if i had p/anaemia she wasn't sure.

Hope you are all not too bad, it has got so cold, i feel like hibernating until spring lol.

I've got an automatic Rhona, nothing to them but you can take a lesson before you switch which is what I did. Easy on the knees and feet as well, well your left foot in any case. Shame my worse knee is the right one!

Remind me again, when are you seeing the rheumy and isn't it time for another shot? Don't suppose the cold helps. I got freezing today and it took all afternoon to warm up. Hope you are wrapping up well.

Rhona I am going to another winter craft fair to-day ( I must be mad) Fluffy gloves scarve and boots at the ready. Inside mostly so I hope its not too cold.
I can't let the wather ruin all my plans, and let everyone down. My daughter is working all over Christmas so we made all these plans months ago. We are also going out for a meal with her in a couple of weeks to exchange gifts.
I hate it when someone has to work but each year some one in the family is missiing. I should not complain at least all mine have work. Not like those at Comets what a Christmas present.

The sun is out to-day so that is nice to see bbut it is freezing and the frost is still hanging around.
I need to put my tree up but I just don't seem to be bothered I am so full of pain. I will do it for the Grandchildren. On the way back from the Chritsmas fair popped in to see my eldest son and his family my grandaughter is such a little lady I can't beleive how grown up she is.Makes me feel extra old LOL.
I am going out on Tuesday to do my christmas shopping. I didn't buy anything at the fair it was so expensive, if they wasn't so greedy they would sell more.

That's good that you have your appointment bsk, is that just to see the consultant? i guess it will be. My daughter is going to see her consultant on friday. I have the hospital tomorrow.

That's not so good bsk. That is a good description, that's how mine feel and the heaviness is especially bad around my ankles. The cold weather is probably making things worse for you. I know when i am out i am scared of falling on the ice and that probably puts more strain on the joints. Have you been cutting down on the steroids? Take things easy for a few days and hopefully things will settle. I think online shopping is sensible, especially at this time of year when you have to wait in queues (my pet hate) Going out for a meal tonight and wishing i wasn't now, still it gets me off the chair for a wee while.

Groupon has a daily deal that you get at a reduced price, some days it's a beauty treatment (massage) or a hotel break or meal etc. You just put Groupon into google and it brings it up, you put in your city and see the deals that are on offer where you live. There are other companies that do it too, like Living social, 5pm deals etc. xx

I had a day of walking too much on Saturday and it really affected me the next day so not surprised to hear you are hurting. It's so cold out it's good to have a day indoors.

Rhona, snow boots are a must, I was so nervous about going out in icy weather when I got ill 3 years ago - it was a bad winter, that sometimes i didn't go out at all for days on end. Then I got depressed and so on. There is a brand called Romika, they are pricey but completely waterproof and extremely warm. Best money I ever spent and will last me years as only wear them on very bad days. With RA and OA we have to look after ourselves.

Morning girls,

Sorry to hear you are feeling so rough Marlene. It's difficult to take things easy at this time of year but try and pace yourself more - little and often. If you live in Camden you will be eligible to attend the Expert Patients Programme - I've just done a course for people with pain. It was excellent and good fun and free. It teaches you about pacing i.e. how not to do everything on one day and nothing the next etc. plus a whole lot more. I got a lot out of it. You can ring them up yourself - google them, or ask your GP. Well worth doing.

Good to hear you had a nice evening out Rhona. It's my birthday tomorrow coincidentally but am celebrating with friends tonight as at a party tomorrow. I'm ok, bit sore but not too bad but feel like I'm fending off an infection so taking things easy today. It's vile out, looks like it is sleeting so in no hurry to get up!

Hi, all bsk I don't come under Camden but I will ask my GP if he knows of anything. I have to do a bit to-day but I have all day so slowly but surely. My back is just one of its normal let me remind you I am here to stay lol. It is really so painful again this mornning I struggled to get out of bed. Taken tramadol and co-dydramol and is slowly getting bareable.I am getting frustrated to think I went through back surgery and not much has changed. They said it could take up to two years to get over, this month it is three years. I suppose this is as good as it gets. When Christmas is over I am going to have a good chat with my GP. I am worried about taking all these pain killers.I find it great that I can off load on this forum,I don't want to worry my family.

I hope you back is a bit better today Marlene. I am pleased to say that the snow has all been washed away for the time being.

My daughter was at the hospital today to see the specialist about her eye and would you believe she has now been told that she doesn't have a cateract even although the doctor there told her 2 weeks ago that she had. Seemingly it has been a bleed at the back of the eye and she has to go back in 6 weeks and if it hasn't improved they will do a vitrectomy which is a much bigger operation. Where do some of these doctors do their training? It worries me that doctors can make mistakes like that.

How could the doctors got it so wrong about your daughter's eye? I do hope it clears up on it's own without any intervention. My surgery phoned today to find out who I am seeing at Moorfields (no pun meant) in Jan to see if they can get an earlier appt for me. Would be great if they can.

How are you feeling at the moment Rhona?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BSK....HAVE A LOVELY DAY

Pleased to hear that you had enjoyed your night bsk. That will be good if you can be seen sooner, sometimes the waiting is the worst part and you have the reassurance that it is a world class hospital that you are going to. I'm ok although my hands are still very sore and my feet are still hurting, i can see that my left hand is badly swollen and a bit out of shape, i think i will be taking some paracetamol today.

Enjoy your shopping today Marlene, i heard this is to be the busiest Saturday of the year so take care. It is dry here today, i hope it's the same where you are.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Take care xxx

I'm sorry to hear about your hand Rhona, you need to get back on your meds. Do you wear a wrist splint at night? I do and it might help.

Sorry your hands are sore Rhona I know how difficult it makes it. My hand is also very painful but the back has settled a bit.

I have managed to get present shopping all done, but now I have to wrap the littles ones prezzies up, I think I will get my daughter to help and we can make a mess of it to-gether LOL.
Next it will be the food shopping although I have been picking up bits here and there so shouldn't be too bad (I hope).
I am going to set a day aside and go to lunch with me daughter, just to have a chat and chill.

Good Morning Girls, You both sound like you are all organised, i went to the shops the other day and when i got home i flopped down onto my chair exhausted and i hadn't even done much so have decided i prefer internet shopping. I wakened in the middle of the night with the pain, i can feel it everywhere just now, my shoulders, hands, feet and it makes me feel a bit fluey. I cut down on the mtx last week, i took 15mg instead of 25mg but i dont think it would have affected me as quickly and i dont even think it works but you never know. I have felt more stressed lately so that doesn't help either.

On a brighter note the sun is out this morning with a nice blue sky.

Thanks Marlene re: Dad's visit. I will, it will be good to get out of London for a few days.

Hi bsk, If i still feel this way in a day or two i will try and get an appointment for a jab as i don't fancy being this way at xmas when my daughter is home from spain. I hope you have a nice time with your father. Does he live far from you?

Thanks Marlene, i do have a hot water bottle and i think i will try it tonight against my shoulder. I stayed in today and wrote out my xmas cards, i was dreading doing it but i managed not too bad although my writing isn't too good, very difficult when you can't bend your fingers. My dog is also curled up in her bed she has such a sweet nature. I must remember and get her a xmas stocking.

What do you think of the radio presenters that called the hospital that Kate was in? It was very wrong of them but i can't help feel sorry for them as they are getting all the blame for the nurse's suicide but i think there is more to it than that.

Hope you manage to get a good sleep tonight, you sound all cosy in your PJ's Marlene. xx

Hi Rhona, my dog has a new teddy bear for christmas, she loves to carry them around well she is only a German Shepherd, bless her she is so lovely.
The poor presenters they must feel awful, I can remember we had a DJ that played pranks on people that friends and family set them up. It was so funny I don't ever remember anyone being upset about it maybe embarresed. Like you I feel maybe there were other issues. Who knows!! how terrible that a prank could finish up like this. I feel sorry for all involved.

Rhona how long is your Daughter home for? You must go over to her for a holiday, next year and get some sun as we never seem to get any here.
I haven't done my cards yet, I get painful hands and pins and needles,so that is a job I am not looking forward to.
I hope they will give you that jab.
Its 11:30 and I am not sleeping yet just taken painkillers hope it helps soon.

I'm delaying going to bed in the hope that i will get so tired i will go into a deep sleep when i hit the pillow lol. I didn't know that you had a German Shepherd, my last dog was a German Shepherd, she was a great dog and i still miss her, we have had our present dog around 11 years, we got her from the cat & dog home when she was around a year old she is a cross collie/golden retriever and so good natured.

My daughter arrives home on xmas eve for 2 weeks Marlene she is home for 2 full weeks so really looking forward to seeing her, she was last home in August, i do miss her and it's always worse when she leaves again but i have to accept that is where she wants to be, i hope i do manage over soon to see her. It's almost 12.30 and i still don't feel i could sleep.

I felt a little better this morning and i went to the supermarket with my daughter, just as well they have trolleys to hold onto other than that i wouldn't manage. It was freezing when we left to go and had to thaw the car out. I remembered to get a xmas stocking for my wee dog.

I can't believe that 2 weeks today is xmas, yes i'm really looking forward to seeing my daughter.

I hope you manage to sleep well tonight Marlene, cramp is not nice, i seem to sleep for a few hours then have to get up to the loo and then i toss and turn.

Glad that you enjoyed lunch with your daughter Marlene, it is nice to sit and chat and take time to relax. My daughter took us out for dinner tonight, she insisted it was her treat, it was lovely. I can't believe how cold it has got, especially at night.

I hope your back has eased a bit today, perhaps you have been doing a bit too much lately and of course the cold doesn't help. I actually look forward getting into bed now and being all cosy.

I called the hospital today to see about getting a jab as my shoulder was really sore but they haven't called back yet although it has eased off a bit now (amazing what a couple of glasses of wine can do lol)

I bought some new curtains from the internet and they were so much cheaper than the last ones that i bought in Harry Corry last year and then we put the xmas tree up, it does cheer things up.

Going to bed shortly, i hope you sleep well tonight. take csre.

Cat is playing up cos I left her for a few days (though well fed by my neighbour). She's chucking stuff off the table, destroying the wrapping paper and creating general havoc!

Nice to have you back bsk, glad you enjoyed your break, the lugging cases is the part i hate, hurts my wrists big time. Just take it easy for a day or two. I remember when i had a cat and would take him to my father's when i went on holiday and when i returned he would be in a huff, i would say "he's not talking to me" and that would last for a week before he came round.

I hope you have a lovely day at your son's house tomorrow Marlene, you will be looking forward to seeing the two little ones.

It is very mild here too Marlene, that's not good if you are still suffering, would a change of medication help?

Well i went to the dentist today and was told he could fix it today for £80 (as i wanted a white filling as it's quite near the front) but was told it might not last as it has broken before, or i could have a ceramic one bonded, it is all done with the computer (CEREC) or something and it will cost £300, so i go tomorrow for that, it is a lot for one tooth but i don't want to keep getting it done or there will be nothing left of it. Home alone tomorrow so I will try to catch up on a few jobs, at least I can take my time with no one around.
My Daughter and Son along with his family are comming down for a visit at the week=end, looking forward to it.
Went to Sainsburys to buy some nice eats for them and when we came out it was dark raining and cold fed up with it!! It is only December so I will be moaning for many months to come (sorry) winter is my least liked thing.

Washing on and beds made now I am going to potter and do few cleaning jobs that need doing. My husband told me you have OCD the house is fine take time out. Rhona you have a dog and know if you dont clean every day the hairs are everywhere. The price you pay for having a furry friend,Bsk I know that cats can be as bad I had a cat for 17yrs.
I would hate anyone to come into my house and go out covered in dog hairs. LOl (well maybe some I know)haha.

What a miserable day here (non stop rain) i met my niece in town and couldn't believe how busy it was, people and buggies everywhere and the shops are open until 9pm tonight and some are midnight, I dread to think what saturday will be like, there doesn't seem to be any shortage of money the way people were spending. Even the place we went to for lunch was crowded, people were queuing at the door when we left. So glad to get home.

I know what you mean about dog hairs Marlene, my dog seems to cast constantly. i think the central heating has a lot to do with it. I have wooden floors so its not so bad now, when i had carpets i found it hard. Bsk, i remember one of my cats used to use the chairs as a scratching post, he ruined so many things, he knew it was wrong as when he was doing it he would turn and look at me and then run away when i went to move him, i think it was a game to him. My dog can be smelly but she's not destructive.

Hope you have a good weekend.

Hi, it seems cats are more destructive mine used to go behind the sofa and claw and run up the curtains. I loved her just the same.
I buy a spray conditioner for my dog. When I brush her I spray some on the brush and she smells lovely after. But the rain has her smelly and out comes the brush again, not that she minds she loves it.I also have wooden floors so it is easier and a disenfectant mopping keeps it smelling fresh.Well thats enough of housework.
I achived a lot to-day and I am pleased with myself. I will be going to bed early as I have wacked myself out.
My hands are very sore still.

Hi Girls, I hope you are all well and not in too much pain. I have had a quiet day at home wrapping pressies etc and i couldn't believe how tiring it was, then my husband arrived home from work loaded with the cold, he is sitting with hot lemon and honey drinks, i do hope he doesn't pass to the rest of us, he does look quite miserable (poor thing). I got a turkey crown the other day for xmas dinner but i still have some bits and bobs to get in. I am getting a bit worn out with it all to be honest. I think i will cancel it night year lol. Oh i am becoming a misery. At least the world didn't end, to think people believe all that nonsense lol.

Anyway, i hope you are not getting too much rain where you are, it was a bit drier here today.

It was like a spring day here, not at all festive. My joints were very painful yesterday in the rain and not that good today either, not terrible I'm just aware they hurt and walking is hard. Might spend the day resting tomorrow.

When i am outside and anyone coughs i go the other way or hold my breath til l get by them, i think i am a bit paranoid about catching things. That's not so good that you are suffering a bit, i feel the same, walking is sore, that was another reason i stayed in and to top it all my mouth is hurting, i am hoping it's just because he was working on it so long and he was quite rough. I just hope it's not the start of an infection.

I have booked a hotel in edinburgh for the 27th when my daughter is home for us so hoping he gets a bit better and doesn't give it to us. He is sitting dozing on the couch, he would be better in bed.

I was hoping to get my hair done before xmas but can't see it now, the last few days always seem to disappear.

Oh Rhona, what a nuisance. Sounds as if a filling has come out. I'm sure he'll sort it today otherwise phone the emergency dentist. My mum swore by paracetamol and whisky for a toothache!

It's 6am and it's like a monsoon outside at the moment. I live in the basement flat am beginning to get slightly concerned about flooding as there is a bit of a drainy smell outside. Last thing I need of course. Might just be my imagination with a bit of luck. This weather is unbelievable and worrying. My dad lives in the west country and it's very bad down there. Good thing I visited him when I did as if had gone last week not sure I would have got home very easily. He went up your way yesterday Rhona, or at least I hope he did!

I think lots of people have left London Marlene, it's so quiet on the streets. Normally, I love to drive around the city but can't this year due to my eye. Roll on Moorfields.

If we don't get a chance to chat later, I hope all of you have a very lovely Christmas. Enjoy your families and have fun.

Hi Girls, I am just back from the dentist, he said it is gum trauma that is causing the pain and it should improve in a couple of weeks, he said it is very inflamed and was going to give me antibiotics but i wasn't keen so he has given me an antiseptic mouth wash and if i want the space filled i will need to wait until it is healed. I wakened this morning and touched my shoulder and it felt like toothache, i am wondering if some of the pain is coming from that, i remember getting a tooth out years ago because i thought it was so sore and the dentist didn't want to take it out as she said there was nothing wrong with it and i went back because the pain was so bad and told her to take it out and she was not happy and she then showed me the tooth with no decay after she had extracted it, so perhaps some of it is coming from my shoulder again.

This weather can be a worry for flooding for a lot of people, i guess you will be more aware of it being low down bsk, if after xmas you still think you still smell it then it might be best to call the water board or whoever deals with it down south and get them to check it.

If we don't speak before xmas then i wish you all a lovely day.

Hi Girls,

I hope you have all had a better xmas that we had. My daughter that is diabetic became very ill yesterday, she was feeling very fluey then started being sick so i had to call the doctor and the doc arranged an ambulance to take her to hospital and while we were waiting on the ambulance she took another bleed in her good eye and could hardly see. I am hoping that she may get home tomorrow if she manages to eat without being sick and she has to get an earlier appoint for the eye consultant, she was getting really scared last night as she could hardly see anything. I wasn't in the mood today for xmas but tried to make an effort for my other two girls, we had a nice dinner after visiting her today in hosp. I have also cancelled the trip to edin. perhaps we will go next week if she is well enough.

Sorry to be such a misery and i do hope you all had a lovely time.

Hi bsk, She is still in hospital but is now off the drip and managing to keep food down, not sure if it was norovirus or not. Her eyes are still a major concern but they may let her home in a day or two and then go back when the appointment comes in for her eyes. I am angry at the time we had to wait at the hospital on xmas eve for her to see a doctor, we went in around 8pm and they didn't put a drip into her until 1am and one of the nurses had an attitude problem that we could have done without.

Glad that you had a lovely time at your son's Marlene, you deserve it.

Hi Rhona,

I'm surprised they kept you waiting that long seeing as she went in by ambulance! Normally you get priority and given that she is diabetic too. You could complain to PALS if it still bothers you in a day or two but try not to focus on it too much as you don't need the added stress, you've got enough to worry about with her eye problem. The main thing is that she is recovering and eating now. I hope she is back home very soon. You'll have to have another Christmas dinner for her lol! By the way, how is your tooth?

I slept for 10 hours last night and am going to rest today as you say. Lots of films on TV right now so might catch one of them. My neck is still very painful at night, it hurts right up into my ear when I am lying down so waking up all night.

Hi bsk & Marlene, My daughter came home this afternoon but it is quite distressing for her not being able to see very well, i just hope her eye clears soon to allow her to get about, at the moment she cant go on her laptop or watch tv or even read a book.

I too would have expected her to be seen a lot quicker bsk and when i told them we had been waiting for a while i was told there was only one doctor on and everyone had to wait. According to the diabetic nurse today she said she should not be kept waiting for more than 2 hours as ketones can develop, so i may well complain although right now my priority is my daughter.

The tooth sees fine now bsk, amazing how we can forget incidentals when there are bigger problems.

I hope you neck eases soon. I think i must be working on adrenalin at the moment as i know my pain is there but somehow its in the background at the moment.

Hi Lynn, Maybe the urine infections are causing the problem? Good luck with the cystoscope. As Rhona says, try not to worry too much but maybe you could ask your rheumy what the plans are to find out what the problem is and get you on some other med....? It doesn't help if you don't know where things are going or what the possible resolutions could be.

Wish you, and everyone else, the best for 2013!¦

Morning Ladies well its new years eve, the weather i hope is not a sign of things to come LOL.
Last night I was doing my ironing and touched my arm on the iron jumped and put my back out so happy new year to me. My burn is sore my hand is hurting like hell and my back has me walking with a stoop. I have to laugh I hope no one knocks on the door I would scare them to death Halloween comes to mind lol.
I hope you ladies have a good evening what are you all doing???
My other half is at work all night so I will be home with mum and the dog, snuggled up watching TV. I think it is just as well couldn,t see myself doing much else.
Let me wish you all a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR AND I WISH YOU ALL YOU WISH FOR YOURSELVES. XXXXXX

Hi Girls,

It is very damp and windy here today, not good weather for first footing. New year is not my favourite time of year. We may go round to my daughters for a wee while as that is where it's all happening, personally i would rather go to bed but will try and make an effort.

Sorry to hear that your are sore Marlene, snuggled up watching tv would suit me just fine tonight.

Hope you all have a good new year, let's hope it's as painfree as possible.

My daughter from Spain says it's tradition there to eat 12 grapes in time to the chiming of the bells at midnight and it is meant to bring good luck, might be worth a try lol.

CHEERS EVERYONE!
