Subject: Ginger?

My husband has RA and was in great pain with all the symptoms this disease has. He was on the usual prescribed drugs but they were not helping. We recently read about the benefits of ginger. He has been taking this for the peast 8 weeks and have not had the need to take any painkillers. We are keeping our fingers crossed as this seems to be a miracle healer and we would like to just tell all other sufferers of this horrible disease our story about this. We would also like to stress that anyone trying this should speak to their GP just to check this is suitable with any other medication they might be taking.

Hi Veronica, great to hear it can help - how much is he taking?

The only think I would say is that the dmards and anti tnfs prevent joint damage, which is why I take them. Dietary things might help the symptoms but don't stop the underlying disease. Just so you are aware.

Hi Veronica. Spices are good. I have cinamon on my coffee every morning.

If the ginger stops working, google low dose naltrexone. Thousands of people are taking it in the UK for all sorts of chronic diseases. It works in a different way to most drugs. Instead of suppressing the immune system, it balances it out.

I have lupus/ra. I've been taking it for over a year now, and some of my symptoms have gone. It hasn't helped my feet, but i have a feeling that only surgery will help them.

A debate about ldn is taking place in parliament in December. At the moment you can only get it privately. Hopefully at some point, it will be prescibed on the NHS.

It is an old drug that is very safe. In high doses it is prescibed for addictions. In low doses it helps autoimmune disease. Because it is out of patent, nobody is interested in doing clinical trials.

Interesting post Linda. Have done a brief search on the web and have yet to find any scientific evidence or clinical trials on this. Until that is done, I wouldn't consider taking it but interesting to hear it has helped you in part.
