Hi wonder if I can answer a question I'm on 70mg of amitriptline on Thursday last week I had a minor stomach bug I could keep any of my meds down so could only manage 50mg of amitriptline since then I have had low appetite and nausea the only two symptoms I did put it down to the bug I had but that has gone now I'm wondering if its cos of the dosage change I also noticed that I'm continuously thirsty this only started around the time of stomach bug

Hi Laura, Amitriptiline definitely makes you thirsty. But I thought you would of noticed it before you got to 70mg. I reacted really strongly to it and had to go up in 5mg. It took upto 40mg before my back pain was under control. Hated taking it as it completely knocks you out! Luckily back down to 10mg now. Makesure you come down on it slowly, you shouldn't just stop taking it.

Hi thanks for ur reply yeah have been thirsty before cos of it when my dose was put up but don't normally get nausea and low appetite :)

Laura, there's been a bug going around. I had nausea and low appetite for about two weeks.

Yeah I wonder if it was abit of both does anyone have heartburn I have found that recently a couple of times in the early hours have woken up with horrendous heartburn
