Still in loads of pain doesnt seem to take any of it away really bad at the moment wondered if it was the change in weather? Im off to see the ra nurse next week for first time and ive only been on the sulfasalazine for 3months. Does anyone take anything else that helps? Does it get any better driving me mad and my boyfriend as im always a grumpy bugger!
Any advise would be very helpful

Hi Charlotte, sorry to hear that you suffering with r/a at such a young age. I remember getting severe pain in my shoulder when it first started in me, it felt like my shoulder was broken. I was then prescribed sulfasalaine and they did help, it can take a few months for them to work. I was fine on then for about 4 years then i got methetroxate added then plaquenil and i felt much better for another 7 years, i am now on a biologic drug. You will feel better but sometimes it can take a wee while to get the right combination. There are many drugs now that they have to offer and i always find when a joint gets too sore they can give you a steroid injection and that can make a big difference. It's good that you are seeing the nurse next week and ask about a steroid jag, it should take the pain away.
Take care.xx

hi Charlotte , sorry you not feeling good ,

I am similar to Rhona , had RA since 1996 , first on sulfasalaine which is ok but then put on a lot better drug for RA methetrexate as well

personaly would ask to go on Methetrexate as it controls RA a lot better , you need to try two disease modifying drugs before they let you try any of the new drugs

as for pain , never got on with tramodol very well , us pain patches now which works very similar , hope you feel better soon

Hi Charlotte, it seems to be a slow process for many of us to get the right drugs. I started on methotrexate, which didn't work for me and made me ill with infections, I was then put on Hydroxycholoroquine - no good either so was then moved to anti tnfs.

During all this time I was on pred tablets but also had steroid shots. You might discuss that with the hospital. They can last around two months and give the chance for the other meds to kick in. Pain killers only take the edge off for me.
let us know how you get on.

Hi Charlotte,
Can totally relate to the pain you feel, I'm 22 and i've spent the last 3 years trying to get further investigation done as I have terrible neck and shoulder pain every day and night along with problems with my hands and elbows.
It really does get you down, I do hope you get somewhere with your rheumatology department soon.

Take care and try to stay positive, its hard to do but just try to let the condition make you physically and emotionally stronger rather than let it defeat you.

Best Wishes
Rachel

Hi Charlotte,
I got cured from my arthritis by a book of Dr. Giraud Campbell title: Arthritis.
The doctor is writing in his book: you get arthritis from the dirt (chemicals, additives, colors, preservatives) in our food which our body can't manage.
I do understand people when they are backing off when they can't eat any kind of food that is made in a factory. No coffee, no sugar, no pastry, no cookies, no chips, no softdrinks, no alcohol, no smoke, no canned food (fruits, vegeatables, meat), nothing out of a box, a can, a bottle... etc. etc.
This is the only way to cure your arthritis.
Dr. Campbell do write in his book: expect a miracle. Well my two swollen and very painful joints were cured in SEVEN days. That was a real miracle.
So I do thank the Good Lord to find me this book. Otherwise I still would be suffering from this terrible and painful disease.
If you want to hear the whole story I will be glad to tell you on this forum.
I know there will be coming a lot of negative reactions which I already had on a Netherlands arthritis forum. People just don't believe that I got cured from arthritis. Well nobody has to believe me. I can only give them one advise: just try it and do this kind of foodchange in a perfect way. Three vitamins for your bones as beeryeist, molasses and fishoil you have to take. You will see the result.
I cured two people by the book of Dr. Campbell. One woman had arthritis all over her body. It took her six weeks to get cured. The other woman the joints of her hands were dammaged and swollen. It took her one month to get cured.
I wish everybody who suffers from this terrible disease succes.

You have posted on peoples threads that are nothing to do with diets, you will get a better rersponse if you do. Hope this helps.

marlene,
In the book from Dr. Campbell there are some photo's from a woman with hands like claws. Is this arthritis? I do think so. Well he cured this woman (photos with hands straight). After eating three bars of chocolate her hands were again like claws. Do you really think this doctor is a kind of wierdo? Just read the book. If you want to give up all the chemicals in your food and take the three vitamins for your bones there is a very good chance that the arthritis will be cured. I'am living in Belgium in Europe so if anyone order the book from Dr. Campbell I don't have any financial benefits from it (that was a reaction on the netherlands forum: how much money you earn on the book? lol).

Robbie, I see you have posted identical posts on other forums but it's not good etiquette to post this stuff on every thread. As someone said, start your own thread and, if people are interested, they will respond. Stop hijacking every thread please.

Robbie, did I ever say this Dr was a weirdo?
Do I believe everything I read absolutely not!
Do I know that pictures can be doctored, Yes I do.
Did I ever suggest that you had any financial gain from this? No I don't believe I did.
Why are you taking my views as a personal attack. I have an opinion just like you. Sorry if my disbelief upsets you but this is life, not all of will agree on everything on this forum. Debating is good!!!!
Take Care
