Subject: mid essex hospital trust pain clinic - diabolical

well name and shame as they say. i have sent a stinking letter of complaint to the relevant department as today they informed me I was 'discharged' from appointments as i'd missed two. i missed the first one as the appt was sent when i was on holiday - how can that count? i had to try to changed today's as just could not get out of work - i already had the sodding consultant laugh and snigger at me at the first appt so they can now go to hell.
right rant over, pain dealt with with paracetamol and ipbrufen. sorry for moaning but i am furious with the bunch of muppets that they are.

Willis good for you, the more I read the more I am in disbelief at the way people are being treated. Can't you change hospitals. It makes me glad my hospital treats me so well. Take Care

Willis, I went to a pain clinic some years ago for really bad muscular spasm in my neck. They were appalling. The consultant, without looking at my X-ray, told me I had bad osteoarthritis in my neck and he was going to give me a steroid injection into it. I had happened to talk to the xray consultant when it was being done, who told me there was no OA showing (they had called me back because they weren't sure and it was written in the report!) We had a massive row. Needless to say, I didn't let him go anywhere my neck with a needle! Later that morning, saw a doctor who told me I had a bad neck because I was depressed and should start anti depressants. I was already on them lol! Would never go back to one as think they have preconceived ideas of people in pain, mostly negative in my view. They use a Beck score system incorrectly as a diagnostic tool. You'd do better to go to a pain management course in my opinion.

I was asking to be referred to this clinic, Willis maybe I won't bother based on your experience and stick with my GP!

hi guys i can tell you that in a space of 3 months they had over 50 complaints. the booking appts system has just been taken over by someone who is in charge of all out patients clinics now and she was handed the complaint also- i have written to the complaints department about it. Charlie, as long as you are aware that they will chuck pills at you go along and see what they say got to be worth a try
