Subject: Re: Research on electronic devices
Touch screen a must, can't use keypads. Lightweight a must. Kindle very good for hand arthritis but some inherent design flaws, i.e. buttons that move screen back and forth on side of device where you hold it so often move page on by mistake. Also on/off switch small and fiddly as are some of the other function buttons. Don't have touch screen one so maybe they've ironed out those problems. Small device but need big screen. Too small is difficult to hold with arthritis or to pick up. Often hands are stiff in the morning and fine movements are affected so that needs to be taken into account. Nothing fiddly or awkward will work for people with bad hands. My cell phone has on/off buttons on the side and also very small sd card slot with very small sd card. Very fiddly and difficult. Also, don't forget chargers, it can be difficult to get the charger into it's slot when they are tiny or have to be pushed in. Have to say that switching to touch screen phone, using kindle and laptop with track pad have revolutionised my e-life
