Subject: Research Project (using computers/electronic devices with arthritis)
Hi, I'm a student studying at the University of Leeds running a research project on the design of computer devices for those with limited dexterity. I would be very grateful in anyone could post comments/stories/experiences on their interaction with computer devices (e.g. mouse/keyboard/mobile phones) And also any suggetions for how current products could be improved. Many thanks Richard

Hi richard. Most of us suffer pain in almost every joint. Briefly When i type at the keyboard for more than a few minutes my fingers swell. then my wrists ache. Finally my back kicks in with the pain because i'm bending over the keyboard any my shoulders ache from holding my hand out to type

Pretty much how I get on have to limit my time to half an hour at a time. Shoulders and hands are the worst for me.

Agreed also mobile phone buttons are so small and my fingers are so swollen it's hard to move them with any dexterity

Ergonomic seating and positioning is a key element for arthritic people because they are usually sat in one place for long periods of time poor operating positions increase the problem of pain
