Subject: tesco manager appalling behavior
I went to my local Tesco to buy some Ibuprofen tablets, which I always use to relieve my chronic gout attacks. The Tesco till system won't allow more than two pack at a time. When I tired to buy more in a separate transaction the manager interfered, saying she won't allow me to break the law. Apparently by introducing this stupid restriction they try to stop suicidal teens from overdosing. I tried to explain that I(a middle age man) need at least a week's worth of tablets because I can hardly walk to the store, she became abusive and called security to escort me out of the store which was humiliating and unfair. My question is how and where would I complain about this? I think I'd write a letter to Tesco, but it will likely be ignored. What else can I do? Thanks

The normal recourse would be to write to your MP. However, if you have problems with gout, you really ought to be a stronger NSAID than ibuprofen. See your GP and get some arcoxia they can prescribe up to 120mg for gout, altho you shouldn't take it for more than a week at a time or you'll rip your stomach lining to shreds. Also as a side note you should only take one or the other otherwise you'll OD. Best of luck, Chris Oh and altho i am experienced, i'm not a health professional, so double check any advice!

Hi Mike, I know this may seem harsh but it is the same for many painkillers, paracetamol being one of them. Tesco's should of explained that this is not company policy it is a goverment enforcement. The rules are not relaxed for any one. As Chris suggests ask your GP to prescibe for you. I do hope you have enough pain meds for the week-end. Take Care and best wishes

Hi Mike, how humiliating for you. I can understand the policy but not the way you were dealt with. I would write to management of Tesco. Also, as other say, get your gp to prescribe, that way you will get a month's supply at a time.

Hi Mike, thinking about your post. You should complain to Head Office and maybe suggest to them to have the rules displayed. You could E-mail them. I would like you be furious if they called security to me. Take Care.

Hi Mike, I tried to buy 4 packets of paracetamol at Tesco a few weeks ago and they said the same to me, that i was only allowed 2, personally i think it is a stupid rule, if you wanted to commit suicide you would just stock up or go to other shops. It is the ones that need them that end up suffering. As the others have said i would get a prescription from doc, if you suffer from gout you can get tablets from the doctor that prevent you having an attack of it. I would certainly be sending an email to their customer service dept for the appalling way that you were treated.

hi Mike , personaly would conplaine to Tesco , about the way you were treated by the staff , they could have dealt with it a lot better . second thing is with perscription they will give you large packets of painkillers & you would not need to pay for they or get prepayment , used to get co codonal in packets of 100 but in the shops only 16 or 32
