Subject: Stopping Humira
Hi After allegic reations to Enbrel i was put on Humira to see if that was more tolerable for me. Unfortunatley it hasn't made that much of a difference to me apart from adding the nasty side effects. My husband rang the rhumy nurse today as he has had enough of watching me suffer. She has said to stop and that we are running out of options. I was just wondering if anyone else had to stop Humira and what they went to next and how long was it to flush out of system? Thanks

Hi Charlotte I feel for you. I am on my second anti tnf - enbrel and get injection site reactions. Is that what stopped you taking it or did you have a more severe reaction? Have you tried Cimzia or Ritixumab? I didn't do well on Cimzia myself but others have said it is good for them. take care

The reactions were swollen face, neck etc. Eye infections, migraine, chest pains, feeling weak, sick, terrible pain of a night and generally unwell. My joints on enbrel felt great, but on Humira not that much better than normal. I didn't get given cimzia. They suggested that next is the infusions but not sure. I didn't get any site reactions so perhaps should be grateful for that! Thanks for replying

That does sound severe. I find enbrel good but am getting infections same as I did on Cimzia, though not as severe. Will see what rheumy says next week. Some people find infusions good. I've a funny feeling that is where I am headed! Keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on.

Hi Charlotte I have Anky Spond and Psoriatic Arthritis and was put onto Humera last year. However, after originally being diagnosed with Anky Spond thirty years ago, I am now off all medication, have no swollen joints to speak of, and am pain free with improved movement and flexibility. Better still the crushing lethargy which seems to accompany Anky Spond has now lifted and I have more energy than I have known for years. How have I achieved this? My daughter, last January, suggested I try an Aloe Vera drink. I stopped the Humera the day I started on the drink and within weeks was seeing benefit. Even now I continue to see incremental improvements to my range of movement. I have taken no medication, not even so much as an Aspirin since starting on the drink and now I am not just pain free but ache free. To be honest there are days when I feel as if I have been gifted someone else's body, but I'm not complaining.
