Subject: Re: calcification of knee ligaments
I was diagnosed with the same condition. After the doctor had received the results from the radiologist from the x-rays on my knee, he had informed me that I had calcification of the ligaments in my knee. He seemed to be in a hurry to leave after informing me of this. I asked if it was permanent, and if there was any treatment I can receive for it. He explained to me that the ligament was calcified, and that I would be enduring an on going pain as he stated that the calcification will increase as I age(I'm only 32). It is a permanent thing, and was informed that if it got really bad, I could have surgery to scrape off the calcium from my ligament. I'm definately not happy about this, but I am currently alternating between icing my knees, and heating them. From what I've read online, I've also read that it's apparently good to try, and stretch as much as possible. I'm not a doctor, and because my doctor was in such a hurry to leave I found that I had to dig for further information on my own. I hope this helps.
