Subject: Rheumatoid Arth. Knuckle Joints
I am finding it almost impossible to use my laptop now - I have to spend more time correcting my typing than original. It is ridiculous I am very much involved as Secretary of a few charities and need to be able to type. Has anyone had a knuckle replacement or ? three of my fingers particularly will no longer find the keys - Got to do something ! Please anyone, any advice or experience

What about getting voice recognition software? Arthritis Care have some info on how to get advice on this on their website - links above.

Would an ergonomic keyboard help? Looking at hand position and wrist rests etc might help a little too. I've had a few bouts of athritic fingers whilst working in IT and didnt find it too much of a problem, however i presume as a secretary your fingers are a blur... high words/minute. Sorry i can't think of anything else, good luck.

hi toni , would consider the advice above , if you got RA , try get them to look at your medication & get it better under control

Didn't notice the 'laptop' bit last night. Laptops are notoriously hard to type on, amazing that you've been doing it for so long. You can 'plug' a proper keyboard into them. If space is an issue there are 'roll up keyboards' also now. Typing that phrase into google yields some results in amazon.. hmmm only 7 pounds. Still worth shopping around to find a decent solution for you. Best of luck.
