Subject: DLA and spinal arthrits and thinking of claimg DLA again
I have been thinking of making a new claim for DLA based on my now physical problems but don't want to do so if back and leg problems don't come under the DLA entitlements. Since my being out of work since 1998 i have to suffer from lower back arthritis to the point i find it hard to stand and walk or even get comfortable for any lenght of time.Walking is a bit hit and miss also.. I had these symptoms when i was claiming DLA for bipolar disorder. Nerve damage to the spine is causing loads of problems in other parts of the lower body and has become unbearable. I used to claim DLA for having Bipolar Disorder from 1998-2010. I was sent a new DLA form to fill out and waited 11 weeks for the reply. The reply i recieved wasn't what i expected. It stated due to my condition being better managed my DLA rates had to be reduced to the lower limits..This new entitlement was for an indefinate period and no longer needed to fill out DLA forms in the future. I appealed and then lost DLA completely. Shocked. I was previously entitled to High Rate Care and Low rate Mobility along with the care component. Now after this i just ignored it and left it like that but clearly i wasn't happy about losing the much needed benefit. The condition is a life long condition which has good and bad nearly every day. I was always told i was unemployable because of bipolar. I was under a mental health team but never see the head honcho in person, This head honcho decided i am more myself and better managed and so don't need DLA anymore evben though i never even saw him in person..Shocked..I say head Honcho because i can't think how to spell his title :) Any advice on the first paragraph would be most welcome
