Subject: Got question to ask :D
Hi, i was wondering if let say an object/ thing touches your joints during/ not during flares up, eg. Hard objects touches your joint bones, rub unto your muscle etc when performing activities like grip, carrying with hand etc. Do you actually feel painful because of this reason ?

It is anything, when the pain is bad in my small joints of my fingers, my thunmbs wrists and in the palms etc, even soft materials affect it. Don't know why by there it is. When the pain is very bad during a flare I cannot do anything with my hands. Unforuantely there it is. I wish you luck with your research for your course.

Hi Simmie, I agree with Paula, when your hands are sore it hurts to do everything. I have found opening door handles hurt but when i hold something soft in my hand to cover the handle it helps a little but still painful.

Hi Paula & Rhona, Hmm.. that is very bad, if that is the case many assistive devices are actually not suitable for Arthritic. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Wish you all a happy day.

Hi Simmie, I have a device for lifting things, think it's called a grabber and it does help but it would be better if the handles were more cushioned as it does still hurt to use it so i would say the devices do help but there could be improvements made to make them more comfortable to use.

Agree with Rhona more cushioned, and maybe something where you can fit little hand warmer packets into so the heat eases the pain, that would be great. Anything that eases the pain, makes it more comfortable and keeps us as indepedent as possible.
