Hi Marg,
did your doctor not prescribe a stomach protector such as lansoprazol when he gave you this? I have been on it for over 3 yrs with a stomach protector and have no problems. If you cant manage the pain without it you should really go back and see what your doc says. I believe it is good practice for gp's to prescribe a stomach protector with all long term nsaids they prescribe, but i am not an expert.

Debs

Yes my doc also prescribed lansoprazol, which I also been taken off. I have not been offered any other alternative medication other than been told to take paracetamol. He told me that naproxen has been withdrawn for long term use, due to the the high risk of heart problems. I am not looking forward to the full pain kicking in.

Thanks Sue i was on diciofenic originally and like you was taken off it and put on Naproxen, and now have been taken off that and just told to take paracetamol. So i will probably be going back in the very near future. I feel it is a cost cutting exercise.:)
