Subject: enbrel

hi there, this is my first post on here, i have ra and as, i have a 11 year old daughter and never thought i would have anymore children but i have recently come off sulphersalazine and my wife is now pregnant, we are both really chuffed but i am worried as i am on anti tnf drug enbrel, and as it is fairly new i am concerned about the effects the drug could have on a child, any info would be appreciated, pete

Hi Pete,

I reckon this is a question you ought to be asking your doctors. I would contact your rheumatologist (maybe phone the hospital and ask to speak to their secretary). I don't think there is much information out there regarding anti TNF drugs and pregnancy. Your wife's doctors need to be told about your drug history and they can then give you the advice you need.

thanks, i have called my RA nurse and the only info i have found out so far is avoid getting pregnant, bit late for that! and the info only really relates to women,and the info is only on methotrexate and other drugs in that group as far as men go there does'nt seem to be any studies done, thanks for the reply and the congratulations
