Hi Antony I was put onto enbrel in jan this year after failing with all the dmard drugs I had been self injecting for 6 weeks had a little injection site redness and I flushed after my injections then I got an infection which had me off the enbrel for 6 weeks and 4 courses of antibiotics then they discovered my immune system had been so low I had developed acne Rosacea and would be on more anti biotics for up to a year the whole process has left me drained my new rhumy has ordered humira for me to change onto and is wanting me to try a low dose methotrexate again with closer monitoring so I will try this combination but I really am at the end of my tether with all these drugs.

How long have you been in enbrel? I hope you get better results.

Hi Anthony, I have been on enbrel 13 weeks, i havent had any infections with it just a bit redness at injection site. I must admit i have been quite disappointed with it as i don't really feel too much a difference being on it although in all fairness i was pretty bad before i started it, some people seem to get a benefit fairly quickly although they say to give it 3 months. hope it helps you.

hi anton i have been on enbrel for a ear and ahalf after the first 5 months i noticed a difference. i still had flares but they were only small not like b4. after nearly a yr i started getting redness at the injection site then i started getting more flareups that crippled me i have been in hospital 3 times in 2 months due to flare ups and i cnt cope with the pain i have had to start taking morphine at home when i get the flares. m rhummy is waiting to see me to put me on another drug. it was a shame as it realy did make a difference to my mobility at the beging of my treatment.

Hi Marlene,

I have been taking oramorph for about two years now. I take two 5ml spoons per day at 10mg each. When I was at my worst I was taking about six 5ml spoons.

I have been very fortunate because I haven't had any side effects whatsoever from the morphine. It has been the only pain relief that worked for me. I have been soooo grateful that my doc prescribed it for me. It has never made me feel euphoric just a little 'sedated' but not enough to be able not to function. It truly has been such a relief for me. Doesn't take all the pain away by any means but enough to function and I only take the minimum I need to get by.

Hope this helps.

LIFE CHANGING MIRACLE! I've been on Enbrel for 8 months. Came off it for 1 month as I had a tooth extraction and therefore a slight infection in gum. However, the drug is amazing. Most Dr's will say that they rarely see any side effects from the drug. My pain and inflammation has all but gone. I feel generally better in myself (as I'm able to exercise). You have to keep in mind, it's not just the drug that makes a big difference, its you also. YOU have to work hard to see the best results (i.e. healthy eating, cutting out saturated fats & lots of mild to moderate exercise). You cant expect the drug to make you feel completely normal (as if to say you didn't have the disease). YOU HAVE TO WORK HARD, MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY. Yes, its a life long battle but a worthwhile battle if it means the quality of your life is much better. Win the war people.

hi.Is this forum closed now?How did it go anthony? You still there?
I was on Enbrel for some 18months.It worked so well for me.So wots wrong now? Well, maybe I was greedy? I wanted to go away for a month or more without the hassle of taking weekly injections.Asked and got simponi. Now,wellIm not so sure. There's pluses and minuses to this simponi. And I don't like the minuses. Now I just think shooda stayed with enbrel, that is, until its efficacy ran out.You never know how lucky you are until something worse comes along! I really hate takin the drugs!Without them tho'...agony.And depression!
