Subject: An update on appointment, and some amazing news.

Hi everyone,
Just to let you know how i got on with the rhumy on thursay, I have been problems with the mtx on 15mg, and the side effects got bad enough that I ended up at em doc. The steroid injection had worn off, so i was glad to see her, or so i would have thought. She was an hour and half late, and when i go in to see her, I had 5 minutes with her. She rushed through the appointment, made light with the things I brought up with side effects, said you can stop taking mtx if you want, make light of the side effects, was rude, aggressive, and had me in tears when I came out. She had decided by the time I left to lower the mtx to 10mg and up the folic acid to 10mg, and she is thiking of adding sulfazine. She gave me another steroid injection, but said she does not want me to be reliant on steroids every month. Happy for me to be on 8 paracetamol for a long time (this doesn't work anymore) but is not sure about the tramadol, and i cannot take anti inflammatories. Could not ask about referral to ot or physio to help with aids, as she rushed my husband and I out of there, and she said to my husband he had no right to be there. Then said to the nurse she was late for lunch as she was meeting a friend. To be honest I was no wiser coming out than I was going in. A shame becuase my appointment in February was quite positive, trying to think positive and the rhumy had an off day, found out that there is no rhumy nurse at our local centre there was, but the trust got rid of her in a cost cutting drive, so it was a tad chaotic to say the least. But hey there you are see what happens In may and what happens with the sulfazine.
On a brighter note, I don't know if any of you got to read the peom I posted on here a while back, but on the advice of a charity i sometimes help out with, they gave me the address of a publishing house, i sent it to them, they asked me to send it more of my work, and I found out on wednesday they liked my manuscript and have offered me a publishing contract. I signed the contract yesterday and sent it off, and will have the book come out in general e trades in the next few months, followed with audio books, then paperback later in the year. Despite the crap appointment with the rhumy, just wanted to share this piece of good news with you. Hang on in there all of you, and happy easter.x

Hi Paula

Hope things are ok healthwise with you and that new meds helps. Was so pleased to hear your news about your writing well done must have given you a bit of a lift having that news.

I am ok had to come off the mtx as silly tummy probs even had to go for a full scan on abdomen as Dr thought I had gall stones but I do not and actually not every day you get all your tummy, liver gall bladder pancreas, spleen kidneys checked and all aok although have a cyst on liver but she said that is ok.
So am back on mtx and increasing today up to 15 I have been ok this time no tummy probs at all. Wonder if when I started it, it could have been too much of a shock to the system and now my system does recognises it. Just seem to have a bit of muscular pain (that is why I have just come on site to check through the forums about muscular pains) and cramps, the one in my leg calf muscle was oooooeeeeeerrrrr!!!! lol.
A lot has been happening since I was last on here. My husband had a heart attack on Mothering Sunday (he is only 50) but has survived and hopefully will be making a full recovery, Was a very scarey time but...... some joy in my life in that our Grandson was born on the 8th April and he is so beautiful and I am completely smitten with him.
Take care Jeanette x

Hi Jeanette,
Congratulations on the birth of your grandson, how wonderful. I am so sorry to hear about your husband, am sending you both my prayers and warm wishes, tell him to take care. My father had three heart attacks at the age of 39 and you are going through a lot at the moment. Make sure you get plenty of support and take care of yourself. The mtx played havoc with me, and on 15mg I had a dreadful rash on my face which I went to em doc about, I l had to have the mtx lowered and she is considering adding sulfazine to the mix. I see her again in May. The folic acid has been increased so see what will happen with all that. Is the the tiredness I am really struggling with at the moment, that, and the not sleeping. I had a steroid injection at my last appointment and it has helped a lot, but I can't rely on steroids to sort things out, but i did notice when I had one in feb that after a while when it wore off oh the stiffness and pain. Wow. If felt like I had concrete balls in my hands and that I was pushing though liquid concrete that was quickly setting. I will see what the next steps are I guess. Sorry to hear about your issues with the mtx, it affects us all differently. Sorry you are going through so much, take care.xx
