hi Willis

Sulfazine is lot easier than Mtx to take , been on it since early 1997 , never had problem with it , not so effective as Mtx or any the new anti-tnf drugs

for time they had me on 6 tablets a day but did not change anything or make RA better so back to 4

Hi Willis, I have been on sulphasalazine for 11 years and still on it, i take 4 a day. It worked for around 4 years then they added MTX, plaquenil etc, I remember getting stomach pain but not sure if it was the sulphasalazine to blame as i had been on large ammounts of anti-inflammatorys before i started them.

Hi Willis, just read your post. I was on mtx for 18months and then had sulpha added. I have had a lot of side effects culminating in my GP taking me off everything because I was so unwell. Have been off them for over 2 weeks now and some of the symptoms have gone and others not. It's a trial and error game for all of us, so all you can do is give it a go and see. I took 20mg mtx and 4 sulpha tablets per day. Wish you well.

Hi willis,
Was on 15mg of mtx, but the side effects could not be tolerated, so the rhumy has lowered it to 10mg, and upped the folic acid to 10mg, and is looking at starting the sulfazine in may, but she has to check with all the other meds i am on. It looks as though it is heading that way. All i can say is good luck with it, and hope it helps, it may work for you. Hang in there and take care, xx

Hi Willis,
I am on sulfa-4 tabs per day and also mtx 15mg per week plus the folic acid four days per week plus 7.5g of prednisalone.Talk about a mix lol! Only been on the mtx for a couple of months and am feeling sooooo much better already!! I hope this will continue and i can reduce the pred and painkillers.
it seems to be up to your own body what it can tolerate, everyone is so different. I hope it works for you, my side effects havent been too bad so i guess i am lucky xx

Hi Willis
I was put on sulfa 4 a day,. did not make a difference. So was put on methotrexate 20mg tablets. Made me so sick, but was then changed to methotrexate injections 25mg. Having injections is so much better but has not made a difference to inflammation yet
