Subject: dla refusal

Hi everyone i posted a few months ago to say i had been refused dla and was going to appeal. i recieved a letter today asking if i want to go to a tribunal and got a copy of reports etc. I feel so let down by my gp and physio. I am 32 years old and have moderate arthritis in both hips so figured i was entitled as daily activities are painful. Upon reading the report sent by my gp it appears a doctor who has never even seen me filled out the report only stating my diagnosis and other questions were left with - not seen to comment lol! Also report from my physio suggested my gait was fine but i clearly walk with a limp? I'm confused and feel like giving up any suggestions? My hubby says I should fight them but I don't feel I have the energy or can even vbe bothered to sit there to be accused of lying? any advice welcome :)

Hi Sue, I hate to say this but my mother couldn't get DLA until her OA was really quite severe and, by all accounts, it is getting harder to get it. I don't think age is taken into account for something like that but the severity of the disease.

If you want to appeal, you might want to get someone to help you with it.

Hi Sue I had a letter also I was awarded only low rate care and this is the 2nd time I have asked them ti look at it again( reconsideration) anyways today they say I'm still just entitled to lrc I phoned them straight away all the stuff they say I can do by myself I can't I told them this but they just contradict everything you say I am so angry I see people who have not near as much pain as me and get more than me I have it in every joint and still not on meds to settle it.

Sorry to rant on I definitely think you should take it further fingers crossed for u.

What my OT said is that 'they know people with arthritis get worse but they don't offer the support when it is needed.' My mother's experience certainly bears this out. Good luck with your appeal.
