Subject: 25 with Rheumatoid Arthritis
Hello everyone, It is nice to see the sun today, its a nice change from what I call "Rain Pain" This is the first time I have been here. I am 25 female and from Dublin (Which explains the rain pain). I was diagnosed with RM when I was 20. After a decade of complaining and negative blood results for rheumatoid factor it showed itself after my fingers started to swell at the knuckles and look strange. I was very active from early childhood to about 16/17 yrs old, taking Irish dancing and Tae Kwon Doe but that soon ended. I guess what I want to say is that I have decided that I want to help others with arthritis. I am studying for a Masters and I want to develop a smart phone app that will be easy to navigate and give people tips/weight bearing exercises, a directory, how to manage pain and many more functions that will hopefully help. I hope it isn't too rude to ask if anyone could suggest what they would like to see. I can work off my own experiences and needs but it is always good to get a second opinion.

Hello Sara, I'm also 25 and used to do Tae Kwon Do which I had to stop at 15 when I was diagnosed. I think that a smart phone app would be really good, particularly for the younger sufferes! It might sound like an odd suggestion for the app but when I flare up it can be difficult to do things like cook dinner because of the weight of pots and pans and things like chopping so perhaps a section on "flare up friendly" dinner suggestions. It might compliment the excersises section..?

Excellent thank you very much. I agree with you, simple things like lifting pots or chopping vegetables can be an ordeal. Thanks again.

I guess I'm gonna have to get a smarty-pants iPhone now to use this app... Darn. He he! I try not to buy phones that are smarter than me!

Symptom recorder/checker drug reminders/log appointment reminders DAS/blood results log Liane, you should be ashamed of yourself thinking only younger people have got smart phones or would be interested in apps! :)

True! Should also be ashamed of the fact that I do not know how to operate an iPhone, eReader or Skype and yet my 70 year old patients do! (And to me a blackberry is a fruit that goes in a crumble and not a phone!) :)
