Subject: Does naproxen work?
Been prescribed naproxen, just wondered if anyone else was taking it? Low dose as I have asthma.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hedds , only 1 in 10 people with asthma will affected by any Nonsteroidal Antiinflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) like naproxen When I had RA first naproxen worked realy well but had asthma attack & every NSAID has done the same so cant take any including all the new ones keep checking your peekflow when you try it & hope you find its ok

Thanks again Colin for the advice. Saw doc today as been off work all week with cold and cough. Only just managed to get myself to docs. Almost fell asleep in the waiting room I'm so tired. She got a letter from the consultant to say so far she thinks it's viral arthritis and will get better over a few weeks. Told her it started in my fingers in August last year, no reply to that. Just wish I knew more .

Hedds , dont take anything for pain , realy found nothing works that well , my feet are the worst & use tens m/c (circulation boaster), other thing I used is ketoprofen gel which is a anti-inflammatory gel I am ok myself ty , hope the naproxen works

Hi I have used naxproxen and yes it does work, but I think its best for light to moderate pain. I use codeine 30/500 for pain relief. Sci x

I currently take the maximum dose of naproxen.I still get alot of pain but I would say it does help a little as my pain gets worse late afternoon before I take the evening pills.And also worse first thing in the morning before I take them.

Hi Hedds. I've been taking naproxen for nearly a year and for me it has definately helped. Last week I stopped taking it as consultant said about trying to. At mo coming off steriods so won't know effects for a bit. For pain I take tramodil, 6-8, daily. As I say for me it helped and as Mike says pain and stiffness is worse morning and evening.I also take omiprazone to help my stomach tolerate it. Good luck and hope they help.

Thanks for that, have noticed a difference to the pain level,but no relief to the constant aches also tired all the time. I am new to all this, do you get the pain all the time or only in a flare up?
