Subject: Dont know what to think

Hi all. I just wondered if anybody else had had this happen to them. I`ve been on Cimzea for 6 months now and take methotrexate and my regular blood checks have shown that inflammation is really low, the best its ever been, but I`m developing pain in joints that have so far been ok and joints that were causing me problems already are still swollen and painfull. I`m worried that when I see my rheumy in a couple of weeks, he`ll see the blood results and think everything is getting better when its not. I can`t understand why ESR and CRP are really good and I`m still getting problems. It doesn`t make sense to me. Has anybody had this happen where bloods are good but pain is still not good. Sorry to sound like i`m moaning but I just want to know if this is a normal thing to happen

Yep! Me too. My blood results are always good because of my meds. Your rheumy will look at your joints and also listen to what you say. The good news is probably that the Cimzia is preventing any joint damage even though you are in pain. At least, that is what I understand.

I too often have realy painful joints when my bloods are showing better results. Your lucky that your rheumy looks at your joints, mine never does he is just purley interested in the blood results. Last time I went to see him i had to wait an hour and a half desperately hoping to get some steroid injections in my knees as so painful, my rheumy wouldnt even look at them as the clinic was running so late, just told me to see my gp to get another appointment to see him! Im at my wits end with my rheumy dont know what else to do. Sorry for the rant, hope your pain is not too bad, its good to hear that other people experience the same as me as I thought it was just me who still gets pain when blood test results are okay!

Hi Kim, Sorry to hear you`re having trouble, I think its really bad of them not to see you because of running late,I know how frustrating it is when you`ve gone to see them hopeful of some help and you come away no better off. I can`t be of much help but could you ask your gp to prescribe some steroid tablets to help a little in the meantime, I always keep some to help me during big flare ups. Hope you feel better soon and you`re rheumy does something for you. All the best and thanks for advice.
