Does anyone take MTX on its own and is safe from joint damage?

Hi Suz, it is supposed to protect you, that's the whole point of it! It didn't work for me so I am on other drugs.

I've only had RA for a coming up to three years and been on a variety of drugs but no joint damage at all. Been on Methotrexate for 9 months, didn't help enough and made me ill with chest infections and then Cimzia. That did help quite a bit but I got ill the whole time so am starting Enbrel next week.

When I spoke to NRAS they said to me it was vital to go on the drugs because of the damage you can get. I don't like being on them but I like the RA less!
Best of luck.
