Subject: Fibro and Bladder problems?
Does anyone out there who has Fibro find they have bladder problems as well? all of a sudden ( over the last few months) I seem to have developed a real and very embarrasing problem holding my water... not a nice subject to talk about I guess. Im pretty sure its not an infection, as there is no pain or anything else ( I am aware of certain symptoms associated with UTI's.

I know personally this happens. Like you say not a nice subject to talk about even with medical people at your appointments. I was really embarrassed when I had to attempt to explain this and the effects of my IBS when I was migrated to ESA. While I don't loose control of my bowels like the form asked so many times a week I can have very embarrassing accidents without warning due to my bowels and bladder and need access to a disabled toilet at all times. I tend to plan my rare trips outside my home around the closest and best accessible (and clean) public conveniences. I went through an OT assessment at the hospital a couple of weeks ago and I was relieved when the therapist just said, "You need to plan all trips with access to suitable conveniences, that's a pain isn't it?!" and moved on. After having to expose all this to strangers on forms and in an appeal letter I was glad of this woman's understanding and not having me go over the more embarassing accounts of my experiences.

Hi you can get a radar key that you can buy for a few pounds, and that unlocks diasbled toilets should you need it. I went through the bladder problem and had to sort it out with an incontinenece nurse which is embarassing so feel for you both. I have problems with the bowels too, so understand the need to be near the toilet and bad accidents. Unforunately, due to the illnesses you have it causes other things to happen which causes embarassment and at times a lack of understaning. I have to take handwipes, incontinence pads, and a key where ever i go, but it is that or a mess. I had never heard of a radar key until last year, so if it helps you both check it out, thoughts are with you both on this, as i am sure others are too x
