Subject: can i ask a question

Hi,
I would like to ask a question if ok with you guys, I know I have been on here a lot recently, but well I do not know who else to speak to, and you have all been very kind and supportive to me.
I was given the leaflet on mextrate (sorry spelling) and I was not given an opporuntity to ask any questions. My brother is on this for his PA, but I was wondering what all the side effects are like, how many blood tests etc. Last week I had a chest x ray, along with a blood test for liver function etc. I am asthmatic, but I am also on Liquid Lithium amongst other things. I know the meds affect people in different ways, I just wonder what kind of monitoring I can expect and some of the side effects. Fogive me for another question it is just that my family and friends have not been all that supportive since I was diagnosed in the last few days, and I feel overwhelmed and not sure who to talk to, so forgive me for asking here. Hope you are all not in too much pain today, and that you are keeping warm

hi paula don't apoligise we are here and have experienced where you are so ask away.
methotrexate is a powerful drug, everytime i took the med that night got a sickness and head rush feeling, also got belly upset and used the toilet quite a bit. this was for a few weeks while adjusting to it, now i get head rush and feel sick but i take the med in the afternoon so i can sleep tho the effects. many people don't get effects and others can tolorate it so you will find your right med as you go.

i have had a time of it now have a kidney infection, another infection for me they just not stoping
take care, xx

Hi Paula, ask away there is usually someone who can advise on the forum. It is great to hear it from those who have dealt with most issues first hand. Sorry your family and friends don't seem to be supportive, give them time, it is hard for everyone. Sometimes they also are overwhelmed and don't know what to say or do for the best. Glad you seem to be getting all the help you need by the proffessionals.

Hi Davina, sorry about kidney infection hope it clears soon for you. Big hugs. X
