Subject: Head is Spinning

Hi guys,
Just to let you know how I got on with the rhumatologist today as i was seeing them for the first time. Took along medication list, etc, met a really nice woman consultant, had a through exam, she already had my hand x ray, and well, Rhumatoid arthrtis, showed up on the x ray. So she mentioned steroids, and then proceeded to give me an injection, slid a booklet about RA accross the desk, along with pamphlets about the meds, then I had to have a foot x ray and a chest x ray and another blood test, go back in a month's time for another injection and a treatment porgramme and the meds. I got upset a bit on the way home a relief to know what is was, they will be liasing with the pyschiatrist about all the other meds I am on as on Liquid Lithium and asthma as well. Maybe this sounds really silly, and maybe I need a talking to, but I feel numb right now, and just blocked things out at the moment. Need time to get my head around it I guess. Thanks guys for all your kind words and support. You have helped me get through a rough few days before the appointment, and thr first appt with the rhumatologist. I am thinking of you all, and sending you all big hugs and warm wishes.

Hi Paula
yup that's exactly what happened to me - here have a leaflet lol that really helped - not - but help did come - gp recommended this forum :) then I got wise, then I admitted and accepted to self that i had this horrible disease. good days and bad days still but hang on in there, you'll get to 'a place' that is comfortable for you, and we are always here. dont' try to do everything you did before cause you simply can't. if you get all the pain again before next appointment because the steroid is wearing off - call the Rhuematologist and ask to see them again quick due to pain. I didnt' and waited the month for next appt and they asked why didn't I call? they didnt' tell me I could lol
you take care and take it easy till you adjust, lots of hugs xxxxxx

Hi Paula,

I'm pleased you've got some answers but I'm sorry you have joined the RA club (but welcome!)

It took me quite a while to come to terms with my diagnosis. The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society has a very good telephone helpline for those days when it just doesn't make sense or you have questions to ask.

Take it easy as Marlene says.
warm wishes xx
