Subject: Wrists fused or not?
I am interested to hear from anyone who has gone through wrist fusions. I have very bad wrist damage and severe pain in both of them plus lack of movement. My worry is will the pain go and also post op does the plaster cover the whole hand. I have a stoma and need to have hand/finger function at all times. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Hi Mac. I used to work in Colorectal Department in local hospital. The best person to get advice from regarding your stoma whilst your hand is in plaster would be the Clinical Nurse Specialist. Or you could contact the company that supply your stoma care equipment, they have specialist people that can help in special circumstances. Hope this helps. Gillian

Thanks Gillian, I have already asked them but they do not know how much of my fingers will be free of the plaster. I am hoping someone who has had it done will be able to help.

Hi Mac had both keels fused + know sometime got to have both ankles either fused or replaced and thought the same about one of my wrist but after going on a unti-tnf drug last year made a huge differance to it , worth checking if there is another drug to try the fusion did work well , in plaster for 3 months + support after that for 3 months
