Subject: Tiredness with PA

Hi all
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas.
I am a little confused i have been diagnosed 6 months ago with PA. I had a routine visit with the rheumy specialist just before christmas and during my examination i mentioned about the tiredness and exhaustion i suffer, he said that it is nothing to do with the Arthritis yet lots of other people are suffering the same.
All the best for a better New Year

Hello Dave, tiredness goes along with arthritis of all kinds. Poor sleep, restlessness, pain. What are they talking about. You don't say if you have any meds. You take care.

Hi Marlene and Paula
Thanks for your answer I am on Sulpha,co-codamol, and Naproxen as well as other meds for diabetes. I only see the specialist once a year and the nurse at other times. I think that maybe the specialist is too busy to get involved where as the nurse takes the time to listen (wrong but not unusual).
In some ways i am glad to have a diagnossis after arguing that something was wrong for three years. A lot of the pain is now managable with meds but the tiredness/extreme fatigue still persists.
Thanks for listening to my whinge

Hi Dave, tiredness is terrible it makes you so miserable. If I go to bed early i sleep about 4hrs if i am lucky then i lie awake all night. When its time to get up i am exhausted and find the pain is worse and its hard to get through the day. I found co-codamol was not touching my pain, i was give co-dydramol only on presciption and when it is very bad i have tramadol to take along side this.I have to say they do make you high as kite which idont realy like.At the same time we have to sleep. Whinge all you like we all do.

I mentioned I often felt very tired to my rheumatologist. He just said yes, it can make you tired. Didn't suggest how to cope with it though. I rest when I can. Usually collapse into a chair every afternoon when I get home from work and end up not doing much at home. Don't sleep much either which doesn't help.
