Subject: "Big Toe" arthritis

Hi

Searchng for any help!
Got the usual lump at base of big toe and podiatrist says arthritis and recommended flat, comfy shoes (I'm male so only really a problem with work shoes). This worked a treat but once a year the pain appears from nowhere and tbh I cant put any shoe\ trainer on ad foot feels like its broke!
Any ideas on why this happens? And more help would be how to deal with pain! Painkillers dont help.
Thanks

Hi there, firstly you need to see your GP and maybe referred to a rhumy team. Arthritis comes in many form OA RA PA and so on without knowing which one you have it will be hard to give you much advice.I hope this helps take care.

Hi, Willip
I had the same thing- big toe - suddenly started, so painful I cannot even flaten my foot on the ground, didn't thought about wearing shoe that few days.. took prescription gout medicine ... doctor said too much peurine-enriched food I took... that was 5 years ego... after that never have a serious gout attack...minor attack, YES off cource.. I am 56, all these I told you is true
Doctor said I should not take so many things, but believe me, take everything now, (only some in limited qty)... I can live with that
all I follow is alternate medicine ... naturalpathy... apply accu-pressure ....

if you believe all these, I will give you details what I follow... To do all those, you have to believe in it.. I have great faith in accu pressure
tell me what you will do

hear from you...tks... sidney/ Netherlands

Williep, before trying any alternative you must get a proper diagnosis from your GP. Then you can decide with the help of medical professionals which course of treatment is best for you. I hope you feel better soon.
