Hi Kathy, I have had osteoarthritis for many years now and for over a year now have suffered constant pain in my left hip. It even keeps me awake at nights. I have now accepted that it is osterarthritis since practically every other joint in my body is affected by it, including [as my GP informed me] my spine. I think there is a good chance your assumptions are right.

Hi Kathy, normally doctors say it is wear and tear when they have nothing else to say. It seems you have indeed got some sort of arthritis and your doc should be getting you some support or at least some medication. Go back to them and ask what help you are entitled to. Keep going back to them if the answers are not what you want to hear. A friend of mine who is a qualified doctor said that if a patient comes to them with the same complaint more than 3 times they have to refer them to a specialist in that field. If they only come once, they normally get palmed off with a prescription. Keep going back to them every week if you have to and get some help. Anthony

Hi Kathy, I agree with Anthony. I only have minor probs with neck, but found out what it was (CS) while visiting hospital for a post op check for a hysterectomy! It helps us to know what we have so we can gain support if/when needed. I can now approach my GP with the correct questions! Kath
