Subject: from embral to cimzia
hi all well at least my rheumy was understandable and knew i was in pain. he did the joint test and didn't like the sums,so he said to go on Rituximab which i said i didn't want to because i want another baby soon and after an infusion i have to wait 12 months before i try to conceive. as i got upset my partner asked if there was something else i could try before this which he said ok i could go on to cimzia injections. the rheumy is not very talkative but seams to know whats going on and sees the swelling on my knees, elbows and ankles. so a little worried about starting a new drug which is an injection and not a pen but hoping it will help for 6-9 months then i can have a baby and start it again. (this is now my 5th med so heres hoping)....

Hi Davina, I am just about to do the reverse - go from Cimzia to Enbrel. Did the latter not work for you?

Hi Davina, I found the Cimzia good, though not totally problem free. The main thing is that I was getting infections one after another and they took forever to clear up. Couldn't get out of the house half the time. Enbrel has a shorter half life so leaves your system more quickly so you recover quicker, so I'm told. Mind you, I could get entirely off prednisilone, albeit a small dose. Let me know how you get on. xx

thanks bsk, with enbrel i've had 3 bouts of laryngitis and 2 chest infections which compared to others i think thats not bad. wow i'm glad you got off the pred, are you coming off cimzia because the infections? i was told the same about leaving the system quickly but they are very alike. hope you do well on enbrel. take care. xx

Sorry, that was a mistake, can't get off pred! Yes I'm off Cimzia because of infections. How long were you on Enbrel for as that sounds like quite a few illness to me. I hope you do well on Cimzia, it has helped my joints a lot. Much more mobile so tricky decision to make. Either I can't get around because of joints or confined to home because of repeat infections. My rheumy nurse said she thought I was getting many more than others. Worry is that it will continue on Enbrel. Seeing her on Monday for full and frank discussion!

i was on enbrel since april. so 7 months i'm the same still on pred from 5-10mg depending on the day. i think its best to try, you can always come off them or just live with the infections which isn't a nice compromise either way!!! hope the nuser appointment goes ok. xx
