Subject: scan and feel like fraud
hi all hope everyone is well. so i have had a horrible flare and it feels awful. my pain is quite bad and the pain is all over. i had a scan last week of my hands which show no inflammatory but some damage. yet still i am in lots of pain and don't seam to stop and from what the nurse said they would class my ra as in remission but for me the pain is still there. so now i will see the rhuemy on thurs to see what is next, is anyone else in this position?

Hi Davina, sorry you are having a bad time of it. Only we know what pain we are in and sometimes you are made to feel like a fraud. Hope you get some good news on Thursday. Take Care X

Hi Davina, i had a scan of my hands and there was no signs of inflammation and they said I was 'in remission.' However, when I spoke to rheumy nurse who could see my wrists were swollen and I questioned the 'remission' diagnosis, she agreed I wasn't. She said that is sometimes wrongly said to patients and they generally like their own doctors to do the scan. Like you I have pain (all the time) and it is clear I am not in remission. So don't feel like a fraud at all. A good rheumatologist will believe what you say and wil probably see the inflammation just by looking. Don't worry about it.
