Subject: Arthritis research

Hello everyone,

My name is Lily, I'm 21 and studying product design at Uni. Arthritis is such a terrible thing that affects the way so many people live on a daily basis. This is why I've chosen to design a product which helps people with arthritis to lead an easier life.

If any of you have any spare time would you be able to tell me what you have had to adapt? Or what you have starting to struggle with? E.g. Which foods seem harder to open/getting dressed etc.

Thank you very much for your time, it's greatly appreciated.

Lily :)

Hi Lily,

I'm studying product design at UWIC and I am currently researching into the problems arthritis sufferers may have whilst cooking/ preparing fruit/veg.I'm having difficulty getting information but I have sent out questionnaires and have a focus group set up for next month. Maybe we could help each other? If youâre interested then don't hesitate to contact me.

Hi Lily,

Like Chris, I am also studying PD but at Bournemouth. I am looking into the problems Rheumatoid Arthritis suffers have when they cook. In particular how they deal with moving the heavy pots and pans around the kitchen. I was wondering if either of you had any advice on where to research / had any contacts I would be able to speak with?

Maybe we could all set up a focus group to discuss this. Although my design proposal has to be in on friday, I am running out of time, and feel unprepared with the current level of research I have undertaken.

Its good to know people are looking at the same issues, I feel it makes it more viable as a project.

If any suffers reading this have any comments on how they deal with heavy pots and pans in the kitchen they would be massively appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Tom

Hello everyone. My email is l.Dolton@hotmail.com, my project has only just started so my research hasn't gone very far yet. Thanks or the email Chris. Tom, if you add yours too I could email you both and we could exchange observations/research as we go along.. It sounds like you guys have very similar projects :)

And thank you very much Ruth, that's a great help.
