Subject: ill health retirement

Have any of you good people finished work because of RA and claimed ill health retirement (IHR)?

My RA has got to the stage where I can no longer work and I am interested in your experience of claiming IHR. e.g. were you successful, how long did it take, did you get tier 1 or 2 if public sector, useful sources of information, and any other useful titbits you may have.

I was diagnosed with RA (sero-positive erosive) in 2001 and work full time for the NHS. Having spent half of the last 2 years off sick it is now time to stop at the age of 37 and would really appreciate the benefit of your experience.

Iāve only been able to keep working this long thanks to great support at work and home, and have been carried by very good people. But even with this support working is no longer an option.

Time to put my feet up!
