I never sleep right through the night wether in pain or not. I wonder if the pain meds have anything to do with it. Maybe we are so used to waking with pain our time clock just wakes us anyway. I'm not sure, maybe someone on the forum may have better ideas about this subject. I must say its not something I have ever given much though to but now I am a little puzzled also. Ideas anyone!!!

I am up tonight - 3am. Tried very hard not to go on to computer as time passes really quickly and i am more wide awake than i started. my 6 year old had a night mare, poor wee thing, and came in to me but every time she turned i hurt so got up. I have taken a few tramadol but it hasn't made me sleepy yet. Had a really good session at the hospital yesterday - consultant and rheummy nurse - brought the notepad and got all my questions answered and have got the steroids and new drugs to start in a few weeks time once my blood tests come back. I forgot to ask about one thing though - throat and jaw pain. I think it is ra related as it comes and goes and i notice it more when the pain killer is coming to an end. Need to go to bed, have work tomorrow - how come i am wide awake now but in 3 hours time i will be so exhausted.

I'm a member of the wide awake club, average get up time is 3:30-4:30am in one way it gets me down and in another I enjoy the peace and quiet beofrw the world wakes.. But come 12:00 I have to go and rest only for a couple of hours but have to do it or I am feeling physically ill. Did try not going back to bed for a couple of days but was ill through doing it and it made no difference at all to my sleep pattern.
Mads the throat and joint pain are down to RA i have the same.... the throat more than the jaw but when my jaw starts it gets that I can barely talk os eat without being in severe pain.
Take care all xx

HI Dilizjo
i am in work now - managing just about to pass myself - never did get back to sleep. Started my steroids this morning, am so hopeful.
I haven't met anyone else with the throat and jaw so i am glad to talk to you, yes the throat more than the jaw, usually predominantly in one side and always feels like the beginning of a cold or something. Its wierd isn't it? It has stopped me eating so much but alas the weight is still hanging on to me.

Hey Willis, ohh that sounds familiar and the ear thing too.

I agree we are always thinking it is RA but last time i had a massive tooth infection, not ra at all so you really don't ever know.

Don't want to boast but I didn't do too bad sleeping last night - went to bed at 10 and slept right through to 5.30 with only a few wake ups when i turned but i had the full quota of co-codamal and tremadol yesterday so that may have had something to do with it. HOpe you feel better today.
