Ive also come off MTX for side effects but had managed a year and a half before i had to stop. I was on 20mg. and my main side effect was sickness and disturbances to my menstration.
Please dont get cought up in what ifs with regards to side effecs because i know of lots of people who never get a single side effect. They will start you on a small dose to begin with then build it up. If you are will not convinced speak to the rummy nurse about your conserns. sorry i cant more advice x

hi Lydia
i agree with the other two - those who are on metx and don't suffer from side effects usually get a good response. And the other thing to remember is that if there is the slightest indication that something is amiss they do take you off immediately. Hope you get sorted.

Hi Lydia,
Mxt didn't agree with me but doesn't agree with everyone. I tried it tho, and its true what kirst said about ifs and buts, read all the side effects of any meds like asprin, parcetamol and other daily consumed meds and they all have some possible side effects.
If it doesn't agree with you then your consultant should take you off it and try something else.
Hopefully you will get there, and the sooner you get the pain under control, the better.
Let us know how you get on.

Would suggest you go back to Rummy nurse if worse already, she may have backlog but you are in pain, and pain means damage could be occurring, so whats more important? Can you not keep taking sulfas til you at least see her?
