Subject: Etanercept Evaluation

Hi Guys, does anyone have any advice, i have to see the nurse on monday (for the first time in 15 years) in order to be stage one approved for etanercept, I am currently in pain in my hands, feet, neck, hips, shoulders and knees, the problem is i think she won't believe me as i generally try not to show people i'm in pain, which will of course no approval for a drug that could potentially help me. Has any one else had these evaluations? does anyone have any advice?

ive not got experiance on this but all i can say is be compleatly honest, even go as far as to repeat what you have said on here about not showing how much pain you are in. Remember it is nothing to be ashamed of and the nurse is there to help and will understand. I hope it goes well, let us know how you get on x

Hi steve i'm really sorry you have to be thinking about embral.
i am on it and for me its not working great but others its brill for.

you just need the nurse to know what joints are hurting cause other wise you won't be put forward for it. the doctor's see all types of people whom don't make a fuss or do so i'm sure your not the only one that don't show your pain. if you have a good rheumy they will understand.

it will take a while for you to get it cause they need to check your points a few times so they can score you correctly. you will need a few extra blood's and xray of chest.

hope this helps and that the meds work for you. good luck and take care. x

Hi Steve
I was on Entercept for 18 months(along with Leflunomide). It was a great success for the first year but gradually the benefits faded and I needed more and more steroid injections. I would go ahead as it was fantastic what a difference it made. My only side effects were inflamation at then injection sight and hair thinning, but my hair grew back within the year.
Hope this helps

Hi Steve

hope the test went ok based around how many joints hurt & your blood test results , they can tell which joints are playing up , I did not get on with Enbrel but know lot of people do & hope it helps you

Methotrexate & Salazopyrin will control lot of symptoms alone side of anti tnf drugs with the need for steroids
