Anti tnfs are supposed to help with fatigue - though I feel very tired a couple of days after my injection it is better.

Oh so I'm not alone feeling deadly tired all the time then ? I know I'm an oldie but I see much older ladies walking quicker than me and seem to have a lot more energy than me. I'm Diabetic as well so I suppose that could be making me tired as well ? but if I do go out to shop or anything the 1st thing I have to do is have a sleep for a couple of hours when I get back . It must be devastating though for you younger ones with small children - you all deserve a medal !! I hope your doctors can find a cure for it !! Have any of you mentioned this side effect to your doctors? I think my tiredness is down to the medication especially Gabapentin but it has eased the pain a lot so I guess I will just have to live with it.

i think one of the reasons we feel so tired is actualy when your in bed asleep because of pain etc you reposition yourself without fully waking up so still disturbed sleep even though your not fully aware of it, my ani tnfs have helped some but dont seem to be as effective as when i first started on them :(

Hi All,
Can't be of much help but so good to hear tiredness is part and parcel of RA and I agree it's very hard for people who don't have it to understand. I work full time, 8 - 6 most days, and find if I'm not in bed by 7.30 each evening I hardly cope. Luckily my children are grown up so really feel for anyone with young children. Weekends are soent re-charging my batteries so housework has really gone down. Whereas it used to bother me, it doesn't now. As friends and I say keep your chins up.

I think we all feel the same, when I go for a swim I often have to have a 2 hour sleep after as I'm so tired.

Cookie - I think you are spot on, I move around so much at night trying to get comfy that that is the reason I reckon I'm so tired even after a long sleep

I have Ankylosing Spondalitis and fatigue is a killer. In some ways it can be just as bad as the actual pain.

I've been told there is no medcation that can rid you of fatigue.

I went the alternative route, went to a local alternative medicine shop and spoke with a very helpful chinese man. He recommended ginseng extract.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panax-Ginseng-Extract-Oral-Liquid/dp/B003828C0M

I drink one of these little drinks twice a day for a 5 day period and it is supposed to give you one months worth of energy. I know these things work differently for each person that uses it but I can't recommend them enough. I take the 5 day course once a month and it has helped me so much. I feel so energetic.

They're not expensive and well worth at least a try.

Just a tip.....it is disgusting so you should by a juice to mix it with. I've found Pommegranate juice masks the taste of the extract very well.

Hope this Helps

Paul
