Yes Laura my ankles also swell up and are painful. I have to walk with a stick and wear an ankle brace because of Osteoarthritis in my ankle which has developed a large bone spur. One of the most horrible things about Fibro [ with me anyway ] was the constant foot pain. Are you taking anything for the Fibro pain ? I have amitriptyline and gabapentin and they have improved my general pain no end.

not nicking the post but just wondering if you have ever tried of heard of anything other than Gabapentin or Pregabalin? i just cant tolerate them, feel high when im on them lol.
I also get foot pain occasionally, feels like i just cant put pressure on my heals or i get shooting pain which goes up my legs.

kayjay, is there not anything they can do for you surgcally with regards to the spur youve developed?

kirst no the Orthopedic guy said that the only thing they can do is to fuse the ankle which wouldn't make me walk any better. The Gabapentin made me feel ' drunk ' at 1st but I stuck with them and I feel tons better now. Did you ' titrate ' them ? You have to really take the dose up very slowly at 1st. My Gp wrote down the increase in the doseage for me and it took a few weeks to work up to the dose I'm on now.

laura I've found that Amytriptyline works very well it's also an anti depressant but seems to work better than other anti depressants. I was having really bad neck pain which was sparking off massive migraine attacks which always made me sick [ not a good thing being Diabetic as well! ] but the Amytriptyline's have worked wonders for that. Also don't let the Rhuemie tell you there is no other meds for Fibro as that's what mine told me but GP said yes there is !!

ps laura Fibro can make your elbows swell as well - my right one is permanently swollen. Try not to worry as that will make you feel worse.
