Subject: This may sound stupid....

This may sound stupid but I have woken up with a awful sore pain at top of my right thigh on the side,it feels boney when i press it,it is right at the crease of the very top of my thigh, at bottom of pelvis but not as far over more thigh side, so I am guessing this is the bottom of my hip?
Its hurting like my hands, ankles, shoulders and elbows do. am i right in thinkng this could be the very bottom of my hip, and if it is arthritis there, is that where it would hurt?
I am seeing rheumy in september, should I call the nurse, or do I just continue with drugs and wait till then? I am reducing steriods so I am finding the stiffness and pain are increasing in my joints, as the plaquenil has not kicked in yet ( only been on them one month)
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance xx

Hi julie so sorry your in a bad way. i am in the same boat as you with still waiting for meds to work and pain is horrible. i think the arthritis is just very active and for me methotrexate and plaquenil didn't work so now on embral.
i was also told reduce prednisolone but got to 15mg from 30 and couldn't go any lower. so i stopped reducing and told rheumy when i see them, they not very happy but i couldn't deal with the pain and with a 1 yr old it was very hard.
i think you should either just stop reducing the prednisolone or give them a ring they may be able to give you so relieve from a steroid injection or something.

hope this helps. x

Thankyou Davinia, I think I will do that, I need to speak to my GP in mornng as I am on tramacet and it isnt working and he may put me on oramorph if that didnt work for me, ( for my degenerative disc disease in spine) so I will ask at the same time about keeping steriods at same level or just higher. My wrists and sides of hands are killing me, the deep ache is just constant aarrgghh! :(
Hope your feeling well today , and thankyou again for taking the time to reply :)

Hi Julie,
I am very new to this and experiencing a flare up at present. Side of hands and wrists as well as tendonitis up arms have been really bad, my physiotherapist recommended I get these hand and wrist brace supports and they have given me some relief. Maybe worth a thought. Either way wishing you some relief soon

hi julie

is the pain kind of in the dimple at the side of your bottom? i sometimes have discomfort in this area when i've stood for too long or been laid awkwardly in bed. i had my hips replaced 10 years ago and did have pain in that area when my hips played up but mostly in the groin! it hurt more when i was standing and when it was really bad i couldn't bare any weight on my hip at all. if it gets too bad it's worth asking for a steroid injection into your bottom!

hopefully the pain will ease without intervention.

best wishes
lou x
