Subject: Rummy nurses

I just got off the phone to my rummy nurses about my MTX (20mg injection) because ive been having sickness, irregular or absent periods, migraines, and am now having a flare up. I told my rummy this over a month ago during the appointment and hae said migraines ect are unlikely to be down to my MTX. so i belived him and never questioned his opinion, ive found that people can have the problems ive been having (my GP said it was the MTX all along). So ive just spoken to the nurses and they have told me to stop my injection and shes making an appointment for me to see them in a couple of weeks or sooner if she can.
was offerd a steroid injection but it didnt work last time so she wants me to have a think about it as it might not work.

Cant belive it! what is going to happen now? am i going to flare massively as it leaves my body? What else is there to try if the MTX hasnt been working? (the esr and crp are creaping up month by month). Advice please, i need it.

From what I've been told MTX stays in your system for at least three months. I have on the odd occasion not taken MTX and to be honest it did not effect how I felt, fingers crossed you will be OK. Sometimes steroid injections work some times they don't, if you had one it may be different this time.........what have you got to lose? Do think about having one. I'm booked into to have one on Monday, I am desperate for it to work, it did last time so I am hoping it will be the same this time.

In my experience the steroid injections dont work when your recovering from an infection, very stressed or don't rest after having them. I think the more regular you have them the less effective they are also! Roll on Tuesday ... I'm due one then, they have worked great for me 70% of the time.

Be persistent if your not happy with what your being told, ask for a second, third, forth ... opinion. Research as much as you can and this is the first time today I've looked on a site lime this and already picked up so much great advice.. we are after all the experts!!

Re having steroid injection if you have an infection. I was asked by my nurse how my general health was when I asked for one. I told her that I had had a sore throat on and off for the past 6 - 8 weeks. She told me to see my GP because they wouldn't give me one if I had an infection. I've seen my GP and I haven't got one. You also have to rest for the rest of the day after you have had one for the best results. Let us know what you decide to do.
