Subject: just had pain meds upped

Went to docs my hands so swollen and painful, didnt know what to do with myself. My pain killers have been taken to another level, bit unsure about taking such high doses in one go. Two tramadol + Two co-dydramol every four hours. Spoke to my local pharmacy she told me take them and lower the dose when you are ready. Well i did, living in fairy land quite nice to be nearly pain free not so sure about the high. Well in a couple of days i will reduce. I spoke to my GP about DLA i could tell he was uncomfortable with the conversation and he said very little. He asked me if i was depressed i said"no but i am truly pi.... off " he looked a little shocked but i am sure he has heard it all before. (just not from me). Well heres to another nearly pain free day. Take care every one!!!!!

ive not tried the co-dyramol but take paracetamol, tramadol and nefopam reguly. i find with the stronger ones that when i take them daily they begin to loose effectiveness so switch to codeine on the weekends and that keeps everything pretty stable pain wise.
Sorry your hands are so sore and puffy. hope you begin to feel a bit better soon x

Two Tramadol are high pain killers, I was on 8 a day of them and naproxen.

Co-Codamol helped reduce me withdrawl symptoms of Tramadol as they have similar effects but would never try both together as that would be way too much for me to handle.

Im interested if your GP mentioned depression when you said DLA though as im just about to apply and have suffered major depression for years but not seen a Psychiatric or nothing so not sure they would class it.

Hope you are feeling better

dont want to pinch the thread but...i think as long as your GP diagnoses depression they will count it lee. Where i live there is something called a CPN nurse (mental health nurse i think) and i saw her a few times for depression and dealing with living in pain. Maby query this with your GP as seeing a CPN nurse is just as good as seeing a psychiatrist or psychologist.
The sessions with her were much more productive than the ones i had with the psychologist because they felt so much more relaxed.
