Subject: Humira

Hi

Has anyone been prescribed Humira? I am due to start self injecting alongside my Leflunomide tabs (I am on an Enbrel injection at the moment which isn't really working ) Any good results?

Hi,

Noticed that nobody's responded to this yet. Never tried Humira myself, however my aunt takes it for Chrone's Disease. She's been taking it for 1-2 years and as far as I'm aware is doing well on it and with no reactions.

Thanks for that. I have to say I have been waiting for the change to happen for about 14 weeks. Apparently the rheumatologists can't just change your drugs anymore but have to request the change, not sure with whom. So if no one else on the forum is on Humira it will be interesting to see how I do - when I do!!

Depending on what you were on before, sometimes you have to be off it for 3 months before going onto something new to get the old drug out of your system. I had that when I came off Cimzia to go onto Rituximab. Were the longest 3 months ever!

Good luck with the Humira - when you get it! Will have my fingers crossed for you!

I took my first Humira injection yesterday after four months on Leflunomide only (with no improvement). I am continuing to take Leflunomide so sounds like we are on the same combination. Let's compare notes but I am optimistic - I already feel a bit more of a spring in my step!

Well, have just injected with my first Humira dose- took me all afternoon to pluck up the nerve. Having done it, it is way less painful than Enbrel. Still taking Leflunomide along side so now I wait and see...........

Hi, I took Humira for about 2 years with great results for both my ra and Crohn's. Unfortunately though I ended up with Abscesses from the Crohns and folliculitis (boils) and I was told that Humira didn't work that well where there was skin problems also. As far as the RA went had no problems at all, was really good. Good luck

Hi Creswick
I was on Humira injections for 2 years along with Predonislone, Methotrexate, Diclofenac,Folic Acid and Omeprazole. It worked well at first until I had to drop my dosage of Predonislone tp 4mg per day, then the pain came back. I am now on Ritrixmalab which is an infusion, still on all the other meds and still on 4mg of Predonislone but so far I have had 6 weeks of being alomst pain free, and feeling like my old self again. It's taken a long time to get to this but there is no reason why Humira shouldn't work for you..good luck..x

Thank you all for your comments - it really is appreciated. Unfortunately 12 days after my first injection of of Humira I sat in the sun for about half an hour and by the evening was covered with red blotches apparently caused by reaction to the sun with Humira. I ended up in A&E as it was so severe. Haven't done the second injection and am now doubtful if I can with such a strong reaction which isn't showing signs of improvement 6 days later. Would be interested in anyone else on infliximab as I think this maybe my only course available.

HI, I'm due to start Humira next month, the reason I was given was that it would be good for my psoriasis as well, so now I'm confused :s
