Subject: METHOTREXATE Generic Types

I've been on Methotrexate for a few years now and been doing fairly well, that is until my Chemist got in new stocks, and I rapidly went down hill. I always suffered from head aches and sometimes a sore mouth, but within days on the new generic tablets, all the bad effects increased many times. After researching on the net I found many generic medicines though containing the same dose are loosly packed ( mine were much larger and poorly made)and so get absorbed into the blood stream in a very short time instead of many hours. My Chemist was very helpful and got back my usual tablets and my recovery was amazing. Now what I find VERY DISTURBING is the Hospital say its quite common for a Patient to get worse and them to find out the Chemist has changed the tablets and what is EVEN MORE DISTURBING, they say I was very lucky with my Chemist as many refuse to change the tablets and they have Patients going from chemist to Chemist until they find one with a decent quality Methotrexate. I find this absolutely disgusting and my M.P. has confirmed the Government has given Chemists the right to prescribe whatever cheap variety they wish to
