Does anyone have a positive experience of dealing with the pain?

hi cristina
i think steroid injections when they work are probably the thing that has lessened my ra pain most albeit temporarily. i have also had a few sessions of reikki - they were free from a friend - i am sceptical but have to say each night i had them, brilliant nights sleep.
the diclofenac certainly dulls my pain and makes me more mobile if at times i think its not working and don't take it i can barely move. The pain killers (cocodamol and tremadol) just make me a bit doolally but do little with the pain yet i continue taking them. have you yourself had any positive experience?

I found Tramadol and Naproxen worked great however mentally and physically they mess it up.

They worked great for about 4-5 months but I started feeling wierd as Tramadol is one down from morphine and seems to interact with a lot of things.

I would advise anyone against Tramadol if they can but I know everyone is different but from experience the pain free I got certainly doesnt make me want to live with the side effects etc

After coming off them for a week now im still being affected by withdrawl symptoms and increased stress/depression.

tramadol is awful stuff :( a spliff, a hot water bottle and ibuprofen is my cocktail. Cant take diclofenac or tramadol, but mixing ibuprofen with cannabis is better than any other pain killer ive found. I know this wont be an appropriate remedy for everyone but i have to say it works for me!

i take tramadol and parecetomol together and my anti inflamotry its not great but it must help a little, i dont like taking tramadol but i have been now for a year in fact i dont like taking any tablets but needs must, i still have not found any that take the pain away totally. Lee i was taking naproxen but had to be taken off as allergic, it is amazing there are loads of tabs out there that i would never have thought i would have been taking at my age i used to watch both my grans taking alot of them:(.

May i just say tramadol and tramacet dont suit everybody but i have found them very good for my pain along with co-drydramol. I only advise to take what your GP or Rhumy prescribe and then discuss how you feel with pain meds. It is a difficult choice as not everything suits everyone.Cristina my advice is talk with your GP tell him you need to sort out your meds. I hope you get sorted soon take care.

I take MTX, paracetamol and tramadol or paracetamol with codein (taking alongside paracetamol increases the effectiveness of the drugs by 20% ish), Then also take nefopam.
I was taking naproxen but even when i was taking it with renitadine i was still getting increadible acid reflux, ive not been on that since before xmas and am still having to take anti acid medication.
Ive tried TENs machines but i find that as soon as i take them off the pain comes back almost immedietly. I have found the sun shower to be a massive relfie to my pain, im not a regular user but did a bit before my wedding and found i felt great afterwards.
Oh and i find jacuzzis really good (once i climb into them lol) the hot bubbly water relaxes everything which is tense due to pain and for some reason just works for me. Altho ive not found anything other than prescription drugs which give me lasting reflife.

sorry the spelling any typing is so poor on this post... having one of those "hands wont do as theyer told days"! lol

Hi Mads, thank you for your reply.
I take cocodamol with caffeine but I end up sleeping most of the time! It would be nice to able to be awake and read etc. My Cocodamol is 8/500 - it helps a little bit but doesn't take the pain away completely.
I have never tried Reiki myself. I am thinking of asking my osteopath to give massage for my pain. Kind regards

Thank you for your reply. I have talked with my GP about the pain but there is no change in the meds. I take Cocodamol 8/500 and that makes me sleepy. It's a combination of not being able to sleep at night because of the pain and then taking painkillers. Take care.

Hi Lee
Thanks for your reply. Like your side effects, I find that taking Cocodamol gives me a weird feeling of depression. I am usually a positive person but it does affect you mentally.

Just dont over microwave them and dont burn yourself.

Im always concerned over heat bags etc and having to microwave them as im not that confident they are safe and wont burst or hurt someone

Mine came from John Lewis. I Believe LLyods chemist sell also. If all else fails Google, you might come across local store. Hope this helps. .I believe the lavender bag cost £14 at the time but it does wrap right around your neck. Have a look at size sometimes they are a bit small and pricy.Best of luck with the shopping LOL
