hello Marlene
i am relatively new here although i have posted often in my short time and You have been one of the people on this forum who i consider most helpful with good, practical and supportive advice when i am rambling, angry, emotional and downright miserable and really really struggling to get a handle on myself, you, among others, have been there with your soft gentle reminders that it can get better and to stop battling with myself. I do listen to your wise words and am really grateful that you take the time to reply. whilst i don't want to steal your post, i do want to say to you a big thankyou and to echo your words that it is a fantastic supportive site.

I dont even bother to look at ages to be fair as I will talk to and help anyone. Age is just numbers.

I enjoy chatting as my posts can confirm and we all have the same disease just different versions so majority of the gripes and aches are all the same and can be discussed.

Its a great site with great people and even more now were on Spam police duty together.

Aww marlene, bless you.

I have had arthritis since 15 months old but you know what I feel often it is a little easier for those who get it as children than those who get it as adults as we do not know what it is like to roll on the floor or run around or jump on climbing frames or run upstairs so we don't know what we are missing. It must be awful getting the illness suddenly in adulthood as you know what these things feel like to do and how it feels to not be stiff etc. Our pain thresholds are often very high as children because well you get used to at least 6 joints being sore and get on with the day otherwise you would never go to school, you automatically learn coping strategies as a child to distract one from the pain, I forever had music on in my room as a child, music just is a painkiller for me, it distracts me now if I hurt, to sing along to a bit of Abba. I always go out if I am in pain despite feeling exhausted because seeing things, doing something for some reason distracts and makes you feel better too, again it is something you learn as a child, its hard as a teen because you have friends calling to ask you to go out and you think oh my god I can hardly keep awake at 7pm but I always went and always felt better for it (and no not due alcoholic beverages hehe). These things I still do now I am 34 and it still works.

Many good wishes to you and bless your kind post. Don't worry about us young uns though cos we are tough nuts really, concentrate on yourself and keeping well x

Hi Carrie it seems like me you read all the older posts on here. I like yourself love music and when my pain is at its highest i go on youtube and see how many old 60s and 70s songs i can remember and find them and i drift off back to my teens. Its good therapy for me. Strange some might say but whatever works for us is great. I also have 3 grankids 12 10 and 1 they are worth every single twinge. You sound real positive and good for you, take care and hope you are feeling at your best X

Thank you Marlene, I've had it since I was 12. Doesn't matter what age you are it does sometimes get you down. I don't always post on here but read it nearly everyday and gives me that support I need xx
