Subject: How many of you have multiple auto immune problems

Hello all. There are many Auto immune diseases but i have seen that most of us have generally only one type of Auto Immune problem. say someone have RA but not PA or Juvenile Diabetes or vasculitis.

How many of has multiple been diagnosed with multiple auto immune diseases?

I think if you get one autoimmune disease you are prone to others, or so I have read. About a year before I was diagnosed with PsA I had Erythema Multiforme, a severe rash with I ended up in hospital with. I believe EM is caused by the immune system attacking the body just as in autoimmune disease. My rheumatologist said that this and the miscarriage I had also suffered a couple of years earlier may all have been relevant.

Yes.. as Francesca noted, I too suffered with 3 miscarriages before I was diagnosed. On reflection.. I appear to have other issues, maybe linked, maybe not.

After several years of misdiagnosis I was told I had inflammatory arthritis last year. No RF or Anti CCP in my blood.

I was also told that I had antibodies in my liver - oh oh! This can predispose me to something called Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. Good grief that frightens the life out of me. It apparently is another auto immune disease.

I really think because my 'illness' wasn't diagnosed in time my body went haywire. I was completely immobile.

Im starting to worry as i seem to be getting worse and my body is aching more and more than it ever did and the hospital specialist said they think its the start of PA.

Since then ive been in and out of A&E and 999 calls and have never felt so much all over groggyness and pain.

SO im now wondering have they actually diagnosed me correctly as they were using the sulphasalazine as diagnostic and treatment.

Some of it could be all the meds im taking but no-one seems to want to take control and do anything and keep referring to it as PA and Stress when in fact i think it might be something else nervous system related or another autoimmune disease and not PA or just PA

All my blood tests seem to come back negative but no-one wants to explain what the rest of it could be thats basically putting me out of work and if not sorted soon could lose job or reduce my wage which will put me back into debt which I got myself out of.

myself i beleive it could be the meds or as one go hand in hand and im more prone to other autoimmune then I have something else which is not being treated.

I have Lupus/RA, i also have Sjogrens syndrome. In the last year i developed lupus of the skin.
I think as Francesca said, if you have one autoimmune disease you can get others.
