Subject: how to heal damaged joints(F.A.O) Maz

Hi Maz..

I have read few of your posts on this forum and they sound quite similiar to my reviews on R.A and other autoimmnue conditions but you seem more experienced with natural products as well... I was wondering if you knew of anything that would heal joint cartilage damaged by joint inflammation

Many thanks

Sorry I missed your post,

The recent research seems to point to glucosamine & shark cartilage are repairing cartilage far better than the researchers/scientists/doctors anticipated. But, there are certain cartilage/s that don't repair but these like the meniscus are cartilage/s that doesn't have much, if any, of a blood supply. If however you actually try the products you will need to take 1/2 again more by dose than is normally prescribed. In my book anything is better than nothing & it won't hurt to try. If however it is actual joint damage (ie bone) nothing will repair that other than surgery.

What I find really interesting is that researchers did conclusively find that glucosamine products actually aided the body to repair & that it wasn't as previously thought just a bandaid measure.

Of course for all of us getting the inflammation down is paramount to assisting the immune system or any medication/natural products. Inflammation prevents most medications reaching their target so if there is something we can do to help ourselves I am all for that.

Welcome,

However I believe we all need to do our own bit to get the inflammation down too, other than taking anti-inflams, & yes I mean we need to be diligent about what we eat/drink!! No dairy, No sugar, No gluten, No nightshade vegies, No raw tomato (but you can eat it cooked); now having said all that, don't swap a sweetener for sugar, sweeteners play havoc with our systems. The dietary list is endless but the main ones that feed the inflammation are the ones I have mentioned.

It's quite strange how things affect you without us knowing it, when I started on all this stuff I totally stopped eating anything I shouldn't for a month then reintroduced some a little at a time to see what happened, now I know for instance if I drink one glass of milk or eat any other rice other than basmatti, I will suffer big time for that little indiscretion for the next 2 days.

I know it can be painful to give up things we like to eat but when I thought about it me giving up the foods was a lot easier than putting up with the pain. I needed to absolutely do my bit to help my body fight the disease & allow the meds to reach their target.

I can honestly say it was the best decision I ever made.

Good luck,
Maz

Your absolutely right Maz about the diet change to control this vicious inflammation disease, I been avaoiding most of the things you have mentioned but even then have bouts of inflammation now and again my hands being the worst at the moment.

If only the docors could see the link with diet and this disease im sure it would help a lot of people.

i ve been suffering with major issues for past 3 yrs. i ve been on bedrest since all my problems started. and all doctors have to say is to take anti depressants or anti inflamatory. no natural ways or dietary plans to cure the problems. I used to be in alot of pain but since my fingers started to swell and inflamed, i got worried about my intakes.i just started shark cartilage pills a couple of weeks ago. i am also drinking aloe vera and Amla (indian gooseberry) drink in the morning. I also take turmeric from time to time. green tea with cardamom and saunf(fennel seeds). my hand & finger stiffness is improving. I have to take these shark cart pills for another couple of weeks to actually see the proper results. I hope it works so i can start my full time job again.
